Nice - we finally found a river! Plus Incense!
I've done some calculations about the time it takes to bring irrigation to Beijing, and also chop the three Forest tiles and irrigate them:
Moving to the river: 3 turns [9 turns if we build roads on the tiles]
Bringing irrigation to the city borders (after the cultural expansion): 6 turns
Chopping 3 Forests: 15 turns
Irrigating 3 Grasslands: 6 turns.
= 30 turns (36 if we also road the irrigation tiles).
This is imo way too much, and we would be better off setting up a Settler Factory by the cows - or on the west coast, close to the unused Game (if further exploration reveals more bonus tiles). The main problem with setting up a Settler Factory by the Cows is corruption - does anyone have some equation to calculate corruption?
There are no neighbors nearby, meaning that we have a large chunk of land available for settling - and because of the high difficulty level we should really concentrate on snatching as much land as fast as possible.
The Settler Factory issue really needs some discussion!
As for deciding on technology, I agree with Detlef that a Military tech would be a good idea. However, I think we should explore some more first (still 7 turns until Pottery is completed), to see if we encounter any rival civs. If there are no enemies nearby, I don't think Military Tech is a priority for now.
