The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

For some reason I been expelled from the Fighter's Guild for stealing, but I never stole anything from them.

I saw something strange in Cheydinhal. Two guards standing on the same place, looking like their bodies merged together. I could only talk to one of them, and the other didn't do anything, not even blink.

So its either a bug or some new very strange magic:lol: :p

(btw, how do insert images into the text area, and not just as an attachment?)

Now it get's even creepier. I was clearing necromancer infested ruin with an inpronounceable name. In the bottom floor I was greeted by a dremora walking in to me. I thought "What the? Necromancer's don't summon dremoras." When it came closer the name read: "Bleak mine guard". I didn't kill them when I completed that quest, I just sneaked past them and freed the ogres. A week ago :). They must have been really pissed with me, tracking me down to that necromancer's den.

Well I once saw two imperial city foresters beating the **** out of each other just outside Bruma.

I think that deer carcass has something to do with it.

That always happens in my game - same location. The AI sees deer as an enemy - you can't even rest if there's deer nearby!

An item is missing a texture and/or mesh.

Yeah, I saw two foresters go at it on my way to Kvatch once, One had heavy armour and the other one had light armour, I think he won.

ANd I HATE HATE HATE it when there are non-aggressive animals near by and you can't rest! Deer can't even attack so what's the point? If you make creatures in an area where you wan't people to sleep, make them NPCs. It's also annoying in the Unique Landscapes: The Dark Forest it's hard to rest in the bed there because of those sprites WHICH ARE NOT ATTACKABLE and CANNOT attack!

Crap! I'm a vampire and didn't want to be! I couldn't figure out how until I checked the internet. Turns out you can become a vampire just by fighting them.

Oh well, just adds more quests to do.

Question: Does it change anything by closing down the smaller gates outside each city? I'm not talking about the first one, but all of them throughout the land. I've been ignoring the main quest so I can get to high level.

Nope, nothing changes. I actualy have only completed the main quest with my current char up to giving jauffre the amuelet. Also, there is a cure for vampirism, join the Dark Brotherhood and talk to Vincent.

Though after a week or so (make sure you feed everynight!) your face features do look a little odd.

Yes, that happens with those bleak mine guards. In my game, I ran into one outside of prison in Bruma (I cast frenzy on that one and he got himself killed by the guards), and another one was found dead outside of Skingrad, with 2 Fighters Guild members standing next to the body (when I first found them and the body, both members were low on health, so I guess they killed him). They haven't moved from that area since, and it's been a long time in game since I first saw them there.
I haven't run into one in a ruin though.

just remember the enemies' will adavnce accordingly with your level

no the smaller gates are spread random through the map in the area you explored. however there are certain gates that dont close that are near the cities. the smaller gates can be closed and doesnt affect main quest. But when you are in the middle of some of the main quests. there are side quests that can be done. :goodjob:

you get vampire disease when they melee atack you. Try looking for the spell cure disease. then it doesnt become an issue. Before though i use to avoid all vampire caves and lairs as much as possible(i didnt want to be a scary/bloodsucking vampire:lol: )although they do get some benefits and some negatives.

It's one of the deadric shrine quests, don't remember which one exactly off-hand.

I think it's the second Fighter's Guild quest. They always tag along if you get tossed into a prison - try attacking a gaurd or two and see what they do. ;) (be careful about the Imperial City Prison steps that lead to the prison - some NPCs can get stuck under the steps, and it happened to me once!)

That's what I understood as well, yet it doesn't entirely seem so. In the battle in the castle of Kvatch no matter what I did I could not defeat those flaming women. The only thing I could do is run past them. Currently I'm in the oblivion gate outside of Anvil and I've fought several of the flaming women, and they've been relatively easy. I agree that the enemies advance accordingly, but they must do so at a reduced rate.

Just checked, it is a daedric shrine quest, Malacath to be specific.

Spoiler :

Info from : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Malacath

Malacath

Description

You need to make an offering of some Troll Fat, and then free some Ogres from slavery.

Details

See the oblivion map for the location of this shrine.

1. You can learn of the location of Malacath's Shrine from Pinarus Inventius in Anvil. His house is in the West end of town. Ask him about Daedric Shrines.
2. You must at least be level 10 in order to start this quest.
3. He'll tell you about a large statue of Malacath, west of Fort Sutch and west of the Gold Road to Hammerfell. The location, north of Anvil, will be marked on your map.
4. Find the shrine along with a couple of Orcs keeping it company.
5. Speak to Shobob gro-Rugdush, who will mention that they don't like 'beautiful people' and suggests that maybe you can convince him you're not so beautiful on the inside. With a little more disposition (50) he'll tell you that they don't like non-Orcs and to approach the shrine at your own risk.
6. Say you'll approach and he'll add that Malacath likes Troll Fat, and only Troll Fat.
7. Trolls will start appearing in various places at level 4. One place, for sure, is in Howling Cave a ways east from Skingrad. A piece of Troll Fat can be found on a table on the second level.
8. Once you have a Troll Fat, approach and activate the shrine with it in your inventory.
9. Malacath says that someone named Drad has claimed his Ogres. You are to travel east to Drad's Estate and free the Ogre slaves.
10. Drad's Estate is just southeast of the Shrine and is now marked on your map. Note that the home is a private area (red icon) but you still should be able to speak to Lord and Lady Drad.
11. Speak to Drad about his Ogre Slaves. You can either go with, or against, slavery in the dialogue. If you admire his efforts he'll tell you the Ogres are in Bleak Mine. If you go against slavery, speak to Lady Drad to learn this information. You may need to raise her disposition to 70 to get this information from her.
12. Exact locations to the mine were not given, but it is east of the Estate. The mine is locked with an Easy lock. Either pick it or find the key in the Estate.
13. Once in the mines, getting the Ogres out is no easy task. The guards (about 10 in all) will attack you on sight and all are very tough. There are two groups of Ogres you have to free, and once freed the Ogres will help you kill any guards they encounter (Malacath doesn't appear to mind if any Ogre dies at a guard's hand during the escape).
14. The Ogre's cell is locked with a Hard lock, but all Guards have two keys to open the two doors.
15. You'll receive a quest message once you have freed all Ogres (opened both cells).
16. Return to the Shrine for your reward. Be sure to sell all the guard's armor from the mine... you can easily come away with 5000 gp from selling the loot alone. (note. the armour is leveled)
17. (Purely optional) Go back to Lord Drad's Estate and check the fields for a laugh =)
18. (Absolutely optional) Kill the Ogres (its not difficult since contrary to what you may think if you attack one only he will be involved and not the whole pack) then speak to Lady Drad, she will be distressed and say that you "killed the poor beasts and that you've ruined her and her husband" now that its what I call ungratefulness

Note. The guards may not attack you unless you have your weapon out and ready for action. They ignored me while I watched them fight the Ogres until I drew my weapon.

Note. I was not attacked at all by the guards when I used spells to open the cage locks. I tested the previous note by running around the remaining guards with my sword drawn after the ogres were free and I was not attacked.

Note. I did this with my sword sheathed and was left alone by guards. Later I was doing the main quest where you have to close the Bruma gate and the Mine guards appeared in Oblivion. They were not chasing me or trying to kill me they were just standing around in different locations. When I hit them they would chase me and fight the random daedra around.

Note. If you do not kill all of the guards during this quest, they will follow you everywhere (and I mean everywhere), picking a fight with castle guards and people in the street, until they all finally die. If I had known that walking in with a weapon would have provoked them, I would have opted for that since they ended up killing a lot of innocent people before the last guy, the mine captain, went down by the imperial guard.

Note. This seems to be a bug, as when I walked through without my weapon drawn, I had guards zoom in and say "You're living on borrowed time, thief!" (after freeing the first ogres) and "No repeat offenders, thats my policy!" (after the second), but was not attacked (and I'm glad, they all had daedric armor!)

RE:Imperial City step problems, I've run into that too when I sometimes fast travel to the IC dock area....I end up underwater, and everyone who walks through that area fall through the ground into the water too. :D

Recall I previously had problems with the will-o-wisp (I wast 5th level at that time). I started doing other quests and forgot about that one. Came across a will-o-wisp somewhere else and easily defeated it, so I went back and gave it as an offering. The mine was unsealed and I was than tasked with defeating five vampires. I defeated the first vamp, went outside to heal up and save. I cannot for the life of me defeat one of the next ones.

There are two vamps in one room (one is an orc and the other uses her fists to fight). I defeat the one who uses her fists fairly easy, but can't defeat the orc vamp. I've redone that save over a dozen times and can't defeat her. I'm currently 14th level.

What items are best to use against vampires? Especially orc vamps with big swords!! ;)

Vampires have a certain amount of points resistance against normal weapons but a weakness to fire.

I used sneak attacks with a poisoned weapon on those vampires. The weapon was enchanted with fire damage, and the poison I used was Fire damage, Damage health, paralyze. One shot with that poisoned weapon was more than enough to kill any of the vampires in that lair. The key is to get the sneak attack bonus, though it would probably help to also be an expert alchemist to make the poison. :)
