The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Now that's a horse of a different color! :D

(couldn't resist)

I wonder how could people hate mudcrab so much... When listening to the NPC conversations, many often I heard them said something like " I saw a mudcrab the other day... UGLY filthy creatures!".

Those shades of pink are the effect of Detect Life spell on my glass gauntlets. :D

(But I think you know that already)

After a while they extend their hatred to goblins as well... but they still hate mudcrabs.

"I've fought mudcrabs tougher than you!"

You know, I was kind of thinking about getting Oblivion this week, but I saw it has a mature rating?
This could be why:

Don't be worried about it; The most violent thing in the game is probably after you kill and enemy and it ragdols so that it does the splits. :cringe:

Question: Do you have a favorite place to farm Grand Soul Gems?

I find myself always out of soul gems... Auzra's Star is good for recharging, but for enchanting stuff I need more soul gems. The ones in MG are looted long ago... they do not respawn. Those I can find in shops are usually already filled, and I usually can find only 3 Grand soul gems with grand souls.

I just use Azura's Star. I don't have access to the arcane university yet and can't enchant stuff.

Umbra+Azura's Star = Excellent Combo.

I like to go to Oblivion to farm them, all the Xivilai's, higher level Dremorae and Storm Atronach's I could want.

But you only got one Azura's star... so you can only enchant one item. I'm definitely not satisfied of clearing a whole cave of top-tier level monsters and only emerge with a single grand soul...

And I don't know if it's my level (38) or the patch modified it, but in my game both Umbra (22 dmg or so) and Goldbrand (25 dmg or so) are weak. My own enchanted daedric longswords did more damage (28 dmg). Also Umbra contains only a soultrap 120 seconds enchantment... Goldbrand contains only a fire damage 22pts. My own sword has weakness to shock 100% for 1 sec, shock 20pts for 1 sec, and soultrap for 1 sec.

I prefer trapping my summons for recharging... trains my conjuration, weapon skill and a little bit of armorer. All it costs me is the repair hammers.

:hmm: Unless something's really screwy with that patch, Goldbrand and Umbra should be tons more powerfull. I'm at Level 23, 75 in blade, my Daedric longswords do 25 damage, Goldbrand does 26(+fire damage) and Umbra does 28.

But wow, how did you get enchantments that strong on the DL's?

It's normal... daedric longswords hold a lot of enchantment. And the game rates the value "weakness to xxx" effects too low... it costs very little to have a weakness to xxx 100% for a few seconds. The shock damage and soultrap are standard stuff.

Same goes for spells... you can include weakness to magic in your spells cheaply.

Ultima your Umbra only does 28? I am level 18 since I restarted and I already have it at 25, though my blade skill is about the same, then I have some rings and armour that ups that to mid 80s

My game is un-patched, it does 28 damage with or without my amulet I found.

Spoiler :
The amulet of swords, that is, I found it in some ayeleid ruin east of the Imperial city, near silverfish river. It gives something like +25 to blade and +10 to strength or speed, I think.

I have just played oblivion for my first time and i have a newbie question,

I see that both my bow and my arrows have a damage number. My bow has 3 and my arrows has 2. When i hit someone with an arrow, how much damage do i then do? 2 or 3, ..or 5?

And does it matter where i hit?

It's the arrow and bow combined.

Oblivion doesn't implement localized damage, so hitting them in the head is only for the looks. ;) Though it does have some effects on the ragdoll physics. :D

Oh So its 5 damage then... Thanks!

It doesnt matter where i hit, i see. Well u suppose i will stop always aiming at their heads:crazyeye: .

Oh, one more question,
After you have made an arrow ready to fire with your bow. Is there any way to cancel the fireing and put the arrow back? without having to fire the arrow and go and pick it up?
