Regeneration In Process
The reason it took me so much time is that there were lots of good players here, and most of them were, perhaps, at their finest. Rather hard to choose. Which is also why there are unacceptably too many ties...
Awards:
Player Awards:
Winner: Stormbringer - after all, FK did turn from one of the two first-grade powers into a completely unchallengeable - for now, anyway - superpower. Although he had a head start, still, it was well-played.
Best Player (one of the hardest to pick, ofcourse): Contempt - very good domestic and military orders, lots of stories, and beside that he kept fighting despite the tons of trouble that befell him.
Most Persistant Player: Lord_Iggy - even after his country gained the "Most Screwed-up Nation Alive" award and even ceased to exist for a while, he still continued leading it (and leading it without any grudges, at that).
Least Persistant Player: North King - he admitted that himself, so its the least trouble. Plus its true!
Most Innovative Player: Thlayli - perhaps alittle too innovative at moments...
Best Unsung Leader: Finmaster - turning Switzerland into an agressive empire is quite a feat, IMHO.
Most Agressive Player: MjM - since 1863 he didn't spend a single turn without a war. Now, admittedly, that might not be TOO unique, but the way he signed peace with Peru only to attack HRE, and peace with HRE and FK to help against France, and THEN how he attacked FK again... Insane.
Least Agressive Player: Toteone - left before he could start a war, strangely enough. As for those who remained for longer, I suppose 1889 is ALMOST nonagressive.
Best Orders: Stormbringer - not too long, very clear, very precise. Much easier to work with than most others.
Best New Player: Thlayli - beating (or stalling for several turns) some very experienced NESers is not bad at all for someone who joined right now (hence my suspicion, of around mid-NES, that he's really Symphony D. or some other presently-inactive NESer in disguise
).
Best Storywriter: tied between Thlayli and Contempt, but almost everybody wrote some really nice ones this time.
Luckiest Player: Stormbringer - his enemies made mistake after mistake, in the first half of the NES anyway. Which is particularily unacceptable when dealing with him...
Most Cunning Player: Disenfrancised - although there was much competition for this award (5 deciRebas for most of the Great Power players. Stormy will understand what I mean here, I think...), Dis influenced events all over Asia and in a good portion of America with the minimal direct involvement. Won't reveal everything yet, but apart from all those rebels he gathered from everywhere, he was behind the Georgian seccession, among other things.
Evilest Player: silver2039 - still no explanation needed...
Nation Awards:
Greatest Power: Federated Kingdoms - as I said before, unchallengeable superpower.
Greatest North American Power: Federated Kingdoms again, after all there are three of them here... and I can't really force myself to give this loud title to Yucatan, no offense to whatever Mayans that might be reading this intended.
Greatest South American Power: Incan Empire of Peru - its doing quite nice right now in all fields, economic, diplomatic, political and military, and is getting even stronger.
Greatest European Power: (apart from Federated Kingdoms) Scandinavian Union - despite all the damage, it came out stronger and richer than the other continental European powers.
Greatest African Power: Sokoto - quickly-modernizing, expanding and virtually unhurt by war.
Greatest Asian Power: Dalnorossia - with its overabundance of manpower and powerful, dynamic economy, combined with the (present) weakness of all potential enemies apart from the FK (which is an ally anyway), Dalnorossia seems a pretty obvious winner here.
Biggest Rise (and Fall, as fate would have it): Persia - which rose from a cripple of a nation to the hegemon power of the Middle East... and then fell all the way down, to nonexistance.
Most Influential Nation: Dalnorossia - it influences all significant events in Asia and the Pacific Ocean, and in some parts of Europe as well, and often without any formal, much less military, involvement.
Most Surprising: tied between France (one'd think it wouldn't have collapsed so easily...) and Persia (frankly I thought that it will end up as a weak Federate puppet at best, but much more probably would be quickly eaten by... whoever comes first).
Evilest Empire: Muscovy - I think that the same title applies for any nation that silver had played for long enough.
Longest Name: Federated Kingdoms (Great Britain, Netherlands, Denmark-Norway, Hudsonia, Carolina, Canada, the Plate).
Most Screwed-up Nation: Turkey - it was destroyed TWICE!
Strongest Army: The Federate Army.
Strongest Navy: The Federate Fleet.
Strongest Air Force: The last Persian War Balloon.
Largest Nation: Federated Kingdoms.
Smallest Nation: Sicilian Rebels.
Strongest Economy: Incan Empire of Peru.
Most Technologically Advanced: Federated Kingdoms.
Most Patriotic: Federated Kingdoms or China.
Most Original Nation: Essploratori dell'Oceano.
Favorite Moment: The Imperial/Eastern War (especially the middle of it - after the first wave of the Swedish attacks, before the Genevan betrayal and invasion): very good, clear orders from all sides, and well-made tactics and strategy (from both sides as well). And at the same time not as complex as some other wars, and somewhat more conventional (in that it had a definite 19th century feel, more often than not and than the other wars anyway). Was really enjoyable to write about that one.
