What is evil? Acts of ill will.

The worst evil are acts of ill will that cause the death or suffering of many.

And these can take on many forms....

Whoa! Stop, stop, STOP!!!! Racism is EVIL, I don't care what color you are. I am African American, and I hate ANY kind of racism. You guys from Australia, and Willem, I am so appalled and sorry that you have encountered racism from Black people. We should know better because we have been through this. Why, in the name of all that's good would we want to perpetrate this on others? To me, racism is the world's greatest evil because it leads to so much negativity. Please don't think for one second that I, as an African American would condone hatred of White folks by us. Gosh, I'm sooooo angry and ashamed!

I know what you mean. I hate racism against anyone. In Israel we have this crazy group called "Kahana" after some radical mad rabi. They were outlawed in the 70s for trying to make a law that doesn't allow arabs to have Israeli citizenship. Until today there are some of them. After every suicide attack they come and start protesting infront of the cameras with signs saying "Kahana is right". And I hate the fact that it's ligal - they have the right to say this sick movment should be allowed again...

"About individualism, if you'll look at my first post in this topic you'll see I defined racism as "the thought that you're better then someone else" - and that can also be said about individualism"

Not the way I think of individualism. I consider myself an individualist, but I don't think I'm "better" than anyone else--I just believe in individual liberty versus "mob rule", as long as individuals do not use force on, or defraud, anyone else.

As a matter of fact, some of the most glaring examples of evil in our history were assaults on the most basic individual liberties--from slavery to Hitler to Stalin to the SLORC junta of Burma (Myanmar, but Aung San Suu Kyi still calls it Burma, therefore so do I).... And of course, the Taliban....

What you must be thinking about in terms of "individualism" is perhaps "cult of personality"--i.e. megalomania.... I wouldn't lump that in with individualism though, since I think of individualism as liberty for ALL individuals, not the power of ONE.

That's your definition for individualism, but when TheDuckOfFlanders said individualism was bad he said that "I ment with this that in this world a individual can do things that is benifitial for him but not for other's.Even in a life threatening way". From your posts, I can see you DO care about others, so you're not an individualist according to the duck.
