The Fortress - Another ArrowNES

You should have me to lead the warriors.

Also, I propose that we sacriface the immigrants to our Gods!!!!!!!!

Of course, you would be. Until I assassinate you and get command. :p

Sarcasm does not get over the internet I guess.

It was a joke, Sam. If I really wanted to assassinate you, you would be dead by now.

*facepalm*

christos, Sam, please, stop. Right now, our forces are too small to even think about having officers. Maybe later, when the warriors have some training and better weaponry.

Also, I'm wondering, do we need a Mayor or Expedition Leader? Because, if we do, I'm presenting myself for that.

To be honest, the military commander/officer now would be useful, to at least act as an Expedition Leader. I also think you would make a good mayor or leader, since you've organized plans well so far.

Turg Figmenton thinks poorly of his Stormwind Overlords.

Turg Figmenton takes part of the crop for his own.

Turg Figmenton lets buffalo gore him to death.

Do you really want a corpse leading our new colony?

Choose someone who matters. Choose someone who plans. Chose someone who isn't dead.

Choose Milarqui our unilaterally assigned Expedition Leader.

Sorry if this is a double post, but just updating the plan logically with all proposals. Changes are underlined, and I support the plan below.

That was a good update :)

Now, a few suggestions (and I hope others make them, as well!)

Personnel
  • 2 immigrants join the crafters
  • 1 immigrant joins the warriors
  • 1 immigrant joins the miners
  • 1 immigrant joins the farmers

Actions
  • Builders (10)
    • 2 finish the still.
    • 3 build more houses, so that immigrants may have a place to sleep in.
    • 3 begin building a wall around the town.
    • 2 begin making livable rooms and storage in the caves excavated under the town, as potential refuge if we need to hide.
  • Crafters (12)
    • 2 make shortbows for hunting, and crossbows for some of the warriors.
    • 2 make arrows for hunting as well.
    • 2 make furniture (beds, tables, chairs).
    • 3 use iron and coal to make tools and swords.
    • 1 use rocks to make crafts that can be sold or exchanged for useful products.
    • 2 make rock blocks for wall-building.
  • Farmers (16)
    • 3 continue fishing.
    • 5 work on the farms.
    • 3 keep getting wood.
    • 5 go hunt, using the shortbows.
  • Miners (6):
    • 3 keep excavating in search of ores in the mountains.
    • 3 excavate under the town, both getting rocks and excavating rooms that may act as refuge.
  • Warriors (8):
    • 5 go with the farmers to protect them as they hunt.
    • 3 continue patrolling around the town, and are given crossbows to help kill any buffalo that stray too close to the village.

All the (serious) ideas are below. Although I wouldn't mind exile or house arrest of christos... :mischief:

One thing we definitely need now is to use the iron for tools and weapons, to aid the workers. We should also start making ranged weaponry, like bows and spears.

As for the new settlers, we should replace the killed crafters and warrior.

We also need an armory, some walls, and a storehouse.

Any other thoughts?

EDIT: After reading Milarqui's above plan (he ninja'd me :p ), I agree with most of it, except some of the iron should be used for weapons for our soldiers, shortbows would be better for hunting purposes, and under the town should be storage, which could also be defended and used as refuge if necessary.

(Note- For now, I thought an armory was unnecessary, so we cain wait until the next season for it. Added the storage and the fact that shortbows were being used for hunting. Oh, we should also still make xbows, to help with those buffalos and for city defense)

Where does it say crafters were killed?! Gored to death?

I say some skilled huntsmen go out and fell a few, but not too many.

(Added this, as both Tsoate and I suggested it)

Now that I think of it, we should make shortbows for hunting purposes, and crossbows and shortswords for the soldiers. The soldiers dedicated to patrolling should be given the crossbows and sent to dispatch some of those buffalo.

(Already detailed this above)

I do not need another lad to join my mining gang, we are perfectly balanced as it is. I will oversee continued production of Coal and Ore for the town. I might need a few crafters and carpenters to develop a carting system to move it all. As for digging more holes to hide in, we have more than enough space, and mining the coal and ore will only increase it. We are not digging in the dirt when there is mining to do!

Also, my lips are parched, have we made any ale yet!?

Description: A big bristly moustache covers a considerable amount of his face. Never seen without a half smoked cigar rolling around his mouth (unlit). Considers details annoying and would rather get on with things, especially in the pursuit of mining gems and gold. Does not have a lot of patience for other issues in life as long as he is satisfied and has a few men to shout at. Alcoholic and a widower.

Sam, there are reasons why I'm assigning another lad to the mining team.
- If you have an accident, we are going to need someone to replace whoever dies, and better if he has trained already.
- Another man allows for a more efficient development of the mining system.
- We could certainly use with those underground refuges, especially in case we get attacked and overwhelmed.
And don't worry, if I get chosen as mayor, I'll ensure that, in the next season, we will begin to build an underground railroad to carry carts between the mountain and the town.
And we should begin having new ale soon. (We have to move one of the farmers from farming to making alcoholic drinks!)

You are suggesting we should assign them. This isn't a done deal; you're not the king here buddy. I don't want him and I am not interested. I would like to point out my operation was very successful last season, so I don't know why you feel the need to dip your oar in.

I'll take on more boys when we open things up and need more productivity. I'm pushed enough training the lads I have.

OOC: What does your char actually do in this NES Milarqui.. is he a crafter? Also, no offence is meant, just playing my char. I wish a few others would speak out with vested interests rather than such a "gamey" progression.

Well, I'm still trying to ensure that we can always be ready for any eventuality. As I said, if one of your lads dies in a cave in, you'd already have someone capable of fulfilling that role. Also, it's not as if I'm putting the entire colony to dig, I just added a sixth member to the miners' team.

If you come up with new ideas, then I'll readily check them and include them if we can agree it is good.

OOC: I'm a crafter, but lately I'm apparently becoming the town leader because of my magnificent managing abilities.
