What do you need the other 38 to do?

Personally, I feel other than a handful here or there to start up vanity projects, everyone should be helping set up farmland to ensure we feed well.

How long is a turn?

Well, first thing we should build is a carpentry and a mason's. Those two will be fundamental if we are to survive. And also a still, for our alcoholical needs.

Both need tools made by a blacksmith!

Anyway, you lads can work it out yourselves, i'm happy with the plans thus far. Me and the boys (5 miners) will go out prospecting and finding a good place to kick things off. Give us a shout if you need a hand shifting anything.
 
In DF you don't need tools to build things.

In this game, tools don't have a stat, but they are necessary to build things.

At start, you have enough tools for your group, but once some of those break or tou get new immigrants, you'll need a supply.
 
I also endorse the MLB. An analysis conducted by several independent Dwarf Fortress organization agreed that that is possible one of the better possible plans going forward.

My two cents:

So right now, we have a couple of houses and a warehouse. We need to establish some farms, set up our crafting infrastructure, and in my opinion, get our defenses up and running. As Dwarf Fortress and Towns have taught me, infrastructure is only as good as the swords that defend it.

Goals:

1) Set up Farming area
2) Harvest some tress for setting up crafting tables and arming the populace with basic weapons
3) Add Additional building for housing and crafting
4) Build temporary wooden walls
5) Yank some stone out the ground so that we might build a fortress that will withstand any fire imps that may lurk about

My experience playing Dwarf Fortress taught me one thing: I suck at Dwarf Fortress after I get the basics going. Playing Towns has taught me one thing: random crashes ruin games.
 
A real dwarf uses fists for everything.

Once i saw a dwarf kick s forbidden beast's arse so hard that its head exploded.
 
OK, then the first five workshops that must be built are:
- Carpentry: for all of our wooden needs, especially beds (to sleep in), barrels (to keep the alcohol in) and crossbows (for our soldiers). Assign 2 Builders.
- Mason: to begin building blocks for our fortress, as well as make stone furniture. Assign 2 Builders.
- Blacksmith: to make new tools and weapons such as swords. Assign 3 Builders.
- Still: to fulfill our alcoholic needs. Assign 2 Builders
- Craftsdwarf workshop: getting the useless rocks out of the way and transform them into items that can be useful or sold in exchange of useful things is important. Assign 1 Builder.
 
If everyone accept that plan, all you have to do is put it all in one post and assign your humans. Updates shouldn't take too long, so I could probably have one up by the end of today, if you all move quickly.
 
So we are all leaders in the same colony. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I must have wrongly translated this information. :D
