Except then the interface doesn't look good. Take the tech bar for example. At 1024x768, it fits nicely in the space for it at the top of the screen. Any larger, and there are large gaps on either side of it because it's the same size, but the screen size is larger.

Regardless, the issue is that you don't want to change the screen rez.

The problem is with the app open, not that civ runs inside the app. My understanding of steam is that you need to launch steam games from within the steam app. Since my screen res decreases significantly when civ launches, if the app is anything but minimized or closed, Windows will change the size of the window, which I hate.

Solution: run Civ in windowed mode. Don't blame steam for your own hangup on resolution.

I'm kind of hoping it is a 4X type game, with some improvements over civ 4 (especially the combat system.) I've got some ideas involving religion, alignment, and such that I'd be interested in playing around with in a mod.

(Why am I not doing this in regular Fall from heaven? Well, um...ahh...there's the combat, plus the almost complete lack of Civ 4 mod experience. I should get warmed up to some tricks when Elemental comes out, though.)


Whatever it is, I will definitely be interested in reading about it, if nothing else.
