The Gauntlet of Eight

Um... :hmm: something got nerfed... when I tried to load the save that Smackster sent me, it told me my turn was over... it wouldn't take my password... I'm REAL sorry I've been holding this up guys.

I'm guessing that you did try it a couple of times? Is it possible the turn order doesn't correspond with the actual order of players?

I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever see 3950bc.....

I have no idea about the order of players thing... I've acually only played one PBEM before...and that was with the late great Gengis (no "h") Khan. I was giving him workers on the cheap... he had the Great Library...and I kept sacking civs before they could get monarchy. :D

If anybody know his password tendencies...I'd love to grow the "yellow mold" (Egypt) some more. :devil2:

But I have no freaking idea what went wrong with this one... except that in the first version I was sending the game to Smackster, and now he's supposed to be sending them to me...

Correct, smackster should have sent you a save. When you opened it, it should have asked for your password like the first time. The order that GRS posted just a few post ago, and that's in my first post is the correct turn order. You recieve it from smackster, and pass it on to Bede.

It worked as you described until the breakpoint. Then it wouldn't take my password, and told me my turn was done.

On the top right, where it lists the player names - is there some sort of indicator to show which turn it's on?

It never even got to that point...

Hang on...here's > > The Save < < as I have it.

I loaded the save I sent you, and it asked for a password for the Mayan's. I typed in a few characters, and hit enter, and it entered the game as ScoutsOut. I averted my eyes very quickly.

So it worked for me, but I did have something strange happen in the last game. So maybe PBEM is temperamental. We should avoid passwords, otherwise the game is ruined if anybody leaves the forum.

edit: Even better and non-playing gamemaster, who has all the passwords and can ajudicate and solve problems

Dangit. I had no password. I officially feel like the idiot who called tech support because he couldn't find the "Any" key....

You know the one... the one that you need to press to "press any key to continue..."

> > The SAVE < <

So what is the second one? Is that the save to pass to Bede?

And I like the suggestion of a non-playing GM with all the passwords.

humm... wonder if there's someone willing to do it that's known to us all.

It still should have worked with your old password, just setting the password in the new game. I hope we learned something here, but if we did I'm not sure what it was :)

The GM could take the turns of anyone that goes AWOL to keep the game moving. And then get a replacement etc. I think we may really need this.

I seem to recall hearing some lurkers around

I don't remember any lurkers, but I think we might be able to get Handy to do it....

Yup. I plopped the settler right where he stood. You guys better watch out too. I'm gonna try a "conscript warrior gambit" on one of ya. :devil2:

He doesn't seem to have posted here at all.

I'll PM him to let him know. :)

Hi,

I can keep all your passwords if you need.
I am kind of used to that problem myself.

in case just send me a PM.

... so there are lurkers. Actually I was really curious when I saw a bunch of (experienced at CFC) coming here kind of out of the blue... :)

hehehe... yeah a group of SGers decided to plop down over in new terriorty... it's like winning a space race, and landing in alpha centuri trying to play there... or am I the only one who remembers that mod?;) I'll PM you my password.

As for Bede, he's the only one who hasn't posted in the thread. He may not realize the turn order has changed.

Hey, I broke 1000 post and didn't even notice!
