The Great Lost Civilizations v1.0 - available ! 1.0

Seeing as how you liked the observatory idea, here's what I did. Cosmology gives observatory, Modern writing gives library and Philosophy gives lyceum (replaces university). Literature still gives Great Library.

I'm not sure what your asking. Are you asking what is a lyceum? If so, "The Lyceum" from the greek Lykeion, was a grove in Athens where Aristotle taught. The french use the term "lyc'ee" for a goverment funded prep school. Hope this is what you were asking. Another possible name might be athenaeum. It refers to where scholars gathered at the temple of Athena in Athens.

hi,
i found your mod very interesting (i like ancient history) and very funny :goodjob:
but... but i have a problem...

i'm playing with delian league, i've discovered bronze working, i've 2 sources of bronze (one imported from Rome and one from a city founded later connected with harbor with all my cities) but i'm unable to build spearmen

i need something else? hordes of egyptians are approaching my borders... help me :D

it's very strange... all my cities has bronze in the strategic resource box, but no spearman available to build... what's wrong

You should go into the conquest editor and check to see if spearmen are available to the delian league... or wait a couple of turns and "surrender" ^_^

@davbenbak
thx you've answered my question :goodjob:

@ribez
I'm afraid, no spearman is available to the Delian League, I don't know where you saw that... They get an hoplite instead...
Ask more if it doesn't help you...

edit: You've only reached bronze working in the techtree and the Egyptians are already near Greece  How can it be, on what difficulty level are you playing ???

well, in civilopedia it isn't specified that spearman is a UU for other civs (or i'm wrong? i haven't civ3 in front of me :crazyeye: )

after 2/3 new techs now i've hoplites. Now i'm in peace with Egyptians, but my best ally, Macedony, betrayed me. Luckily Rome, and after few turns also Sparta, declares war to Macedony, and now i'm expanding in Balcans and in Iberia :king: . Very funny

i don't remember the level. I'll tell you tomorrow.

what surprises me is that my expansion is started like real history: closed from Macedony and Sparta, i've colonized first Mar Egeo's isles, and after Sicily. After there was a war with a great empire from middle east (not Persia but Egypt) and now i'm in war against Macedony. Against Macedony there's a allied Greece (Atene + Sparta) and the rising power of Rome, that have crushed Etruscans and have conquered Gaul's land, like real history: AMAZING :goodjob:

The last thing: why the tech tree of first and second era are well done, while third era tech tree have some graphic problem with arrows?

I dislike the fact that the Greek civs don't get Spearmen. Sure, they get Hoplites, but about half an age later. Until then they have no defensive units at all. Gives too much of a defensive advantage to Spearman-capable civs in the early game.

Well, I will repeat one more time that when the units makers will have fullfiled all my units requests, there will be no more 'standard' units but only UU for each civs.
No more units will be shared (like the spearman) :yeah:

Diplomacy is the key to success :satan:

That's the goal of the Mod ;) Be as accurate as possible... with the possibility that YOU change the history !!!

That's why some Civs get better units sometimes and others don't (like the Spearman, since Greece is not a major player in the world unitl the creation of the Hoplites). :nya: <--- This should answer to Hooray

Wich graphic pb are you talking ?

I also found Eygpt to be too dominant too early in the game, OFTEN eliminating both Carthage and the Phoenician mainland and nearly Persia. I've since turned down their aggression meter! I've also notice that Persia never really gets going. I haven't taken a look at what units they get when or if a shortage of resources is the cause. I'll play them a few times and let you know.

In v1.1 I've made some more tweakening, and egypt should no more fight Carthage in the early game...

For Phoenicia, it's a bit harder they got a poor starting location, surrounded by agressive powers... I've no clue for now...

Also I agree that I should reduce their agression level :goodjob:

BTW, it's cool if you can find out what's the problem with Persia :goodjob:

It should give you

Civilization III\Conquest\Scenarios folder\'scenario'.biq
Civilization III\Conquest\Scenarios folder\'game folder'

into the game folder, be sure all the sub folders are well extracted...

To be sure to make a good unzip. Use winzip.
- Open the archive
- select all files
- press extract to directory
- select the Civilization III\Conquest\Scenarios folder

Hey,

Great Mod but..... nothing like having 3 armies with 9 Spartians looking down the spears and arrows of a stack of Assyrians numbering 150 units. Plus they have that F'N impossible tech. Were the hell did they get that from?

Were is Sparta's piece of pie? I mean I have conquered all except Carthage(2 cities), Persia(3 cities), Parthians(1 city), Nubia(3 cities), Assyrians, Macedonians and the Hebrews.

Thanks,

Blaze Injun
