So let me get this straight. Hungarians have been rioting for days, because the Prime Minister spoke the truth about the government lying to the people. I heard the tape and it seemed to me like he was angry about it, not pleased at all.

Its weird on so many levels. First of all, governments lie to their people. This is news?

Second, its so obvious that this tape was made by his enemies so that the opposition can manipulate public opinion and bring down his government, which is exactly whats happening.

I dunno, maybe Im cynical, but people rioting because a government lies seems ridiculous to me. What do you expect politicians to do, tell the truth???

Yes, but he didn't confess to the people did he? If he had that would be different, this was recorded in private and leaked.

I can't even find out what it was he said they were lying about.

I'm pretty sure there'd be people in the streets if the same happened in Britain or America.

Heres the key part that set everyone off.
In a speech littered with swear words, the Hungarian prime minister confronted Socialist members of parliament with what he described as the "real state of the country", and his own coalition government's attempts to mislead the public over the previous four years. "We lied in the morning, we lied in the evening and we lied at night", Mr Gyurcsany told his parliamentary deputies in a speech in the resort town of Balatonoszod on the 26th of May. He also added that his previous term in office had achieved nothing.

Seems pretty refreshing to me. Id love to hear a major politician castigating his party for lying and accomplishing nothing.

Would people over here riot over something like that? I cant say for sure, but I doubt it very much.

Only if the president uses swear words, and just because of the swear words, not the actual lies.

It is just a momentary flash fire, not that much different to the LA riots. It will soon dissipate.

Maybe theyd riot if he said he hates Christmas and baseball.

A certain segment in the U.S. would riot if our leader says he likes the Holiday season. That is a direct attack on Christmas and shows a desire to make Baby Jesus cry.

Stupid people. If they knew that Turkey and Grease were around the corner, they wouldn't be so hungry.

Those puns stink, after dinner when youre done Munchen, you need to go Bathe and use Cologne.
