The Hunter Biden Thread

So how many of those with Russia Derangement Syndrome here still believe that Hunter's laptop and the many incriminating documents within were "russian disinformation"?

That is how you steal an election: have your pet spooks lie to the credulous voters to cover up the crimes you did. And have the prosecutos in your pocked so that the "big buy" is not prosecuted on that "disinformation" about the bribes he took.

Hunter Biden, the President's son, has been indicted.

Hunter Biden has been convicted on all charges.

A federal jury has convicted Hunter Biden on all three federal felony gun charges he faced, concluding that he violated laws meant to prevent drug addicts from owning firearms.

The conviction marks the first time a president’s immediate family member has been found guilty of a crime during their father’s term in office, though his crimes predate Joe Biden’s tenure as president.

The jury, which deliberated for just under three hours, returned guilty verdicts on all three charges, which stemmed from a revolver Hunter Biden bought in October 2018 at a Delaware gun shop. The first two counts were for lying about his drug use on a federal background check form, and the third count was for possessing a gun while addicted to, or using, illegal drugs.

Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $750,000...

The infamous laptop was used as evidence in the courtroom.

...But the laptop had enough incriminating evidence to continue to haunt Hunter Biden.

The laptop and some of its contents played a visible role in federal prosecutors’ case against the president’s son, who was charged with lying on a firearm application in 2018 by not disclosing his drug use. A prosecutor briefly held up the laptop before the jury in Delaware, and an F.B.I. agent later testified that messages and photos on it and in personal data that Mr. Biden had saved in cloud computing servers had made his drug use clear.

On Tuesday, the jury found Mr. Biden, 54, guilty of three felony charges. He will be sentenced at later date...

The verdict came so fast first lady Jill Biden wasn't able to get back inside fast enough.
Jill Biden, the first lady and Mr. Biden’s stepmother who attended most days of the trial, was not able to get to the courtroom in time for the verdict because of security delays. But she held Mr. Biden’s hand as he left the courthouse and got into a waiting vehicle without speaking to reporters.

Now that the threshold have been passed and political opponents successfully use legal system to try jail each other in the best African traditions - it's time to take power struggle to the next level. Private armies and, consequently, street clashes between groups competing for power.

Hunter Biden has been convicted on all charges.

Hunter Biden has been pardoned by his father Joe Biden. :pat:

So rather than merely pardoning his son for the gun crimes for which he was convicted and the tax crimes for which he pleaded guilty, the president’s pardon covers all “offenses against the United States which he has committed or may have committed or taken part in” from Jan. 1 2014, through Dec. 1, 2024. That language mirrors the language in Ford’s pardon of Nixon, which did not merely cover the Watergate scandal but extended to “all offenses against the United States” that Nixon “has committed or may have committed” between Jan. 20, 1969, and Aug. 9, 1974 — the exact span of Nixon’s presidency.

Why is Trump being so soft on the Bidens? This bomb is big enough to blow up capital hill.
The guy who pardoned a bunch of folks is going to be mad about Biden pardoning Hunter?

I mean, performatively, sure. And I don't think the optics of this are great. But acting like this is some huge smoking gun when the whole case has been a nothingburger is hilarious. It's just someone caving and doing something selfish for his family despite saying he wouldn't.

that nothinburger being a nice cover of ruination of the EU and strangely the US control on certain global stuff .

It was also noted that this is hardly the first time pardons have smacked of nepotism. Bill Clinton as president pardoned his half-brother for old cocaine charges, and Trump pardoned the father of Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, for tax evasion and retaliating against a cooperating witness, though in both cases those men had already served their prison terms. Trump also used the dog days of his first presidency to pardon the rogues’ gallery of Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort and Roger Stone.

And no majority can be found among US lawmakers to end this travesty of justice ?

The solution to misbehaviour by a POTUS is of course impeachment.

If the senate does not want to do that, then the ordinary electors can elect senators who would do that.

Some folk theorize Trump will pull the Nixon strat on himself, so it may be better to not provoke for him

Let's not pretend that Biden doing this will in anyway justify what Trump has done and will do. I don't think that presidents should have the power to pardon people, but given the rogues' gallery that Trump pardoned (and the 'gifts' he received in exchange), this pardon is a drop in the ocean.

What changed? Biden famously said that he won't pardon his son, not that long ago.
Not that it matters, the precedent has been cemented now, it's just regular US politics at the potus level, so enjoy it in perpetuity.

Trump appointing people in a way that indicates he will use the US legal system to prosecute his political opponents for opposing him.

Considering we are probably going to be looking at high-level incarcerations, or political refugees from the US, beginning next year or so – on balance Biden is pretty much doing what he can preemptively. Hunter Biden should use the opportunity to leave the US – he should be smelling the smoke under him already.

So making the US a banana republic is actually part of the deterrence from making it a banana republic :)
Not much reason to think that Trump would go after Hunter, of all people. He didn't go against Hillary, who was at the time still a figure in US politics.

Maybe Biden was told that a potus Harris would pardon Hunter when the time came. But iirc that video of him saying he won't pardon him is from before there was talk of replacing him.

That's an awful big outcome for some small domestic charges.
He means it the other way around.
The jihadists that took that syrian city are backed by Turkey etc. Personally I see no reason to link the two events; Usians don't really know which groups are which in the syrian "civil" war so they wouldn't focus on Syria even if there wasn't Hunter on the news.

it is going to be part of the strategy to mend bridges with Russia and helps Republicans to fix the system to their perpetual benefit . Had Democrats any intention to use the limited time they had to repair the US , it would have been much better . And we might have believed a whole war passed the counter-counsels against it and POTUS was not playing colonial games and stuff . But , like , with the media bombardment as the Liberal Rich will bend to Trump's wind , and like , oh my , Hunter , Lord of Ukraine . ı have already suggested genitilia of Hunter printed as a flag or something for use inside the US , right ?
