The "I Got A New Game!" Thread

Whoever said that Sonic the Hedgehog 3's physics is among the better should drown in a pool of dungfire.
I have never been so frustrated about suddenly jumping instead of spindashing in my life.

I was looking for modern day Eye of the Beholder and Dungeon Master and found this and thought you old-schoolers would like. ;)
Is this one of those games that seems so awsome that it never gets released, or it gets released and it's horrible ?

I think he's trying to ask if it's Duke Nukem Forever before 2010 or after.

Its small project, not even small indie company, but they try to get Valve to distribute their game. I still think 3D dungeon games are good.

That's not even close to what i meant. It was a certainty that Duke Nukem Forever was going to be a failure ever since the late 90s.

I followed a lot of VERY promising indie games that died during infancy or that have been "in development" for years and years. So now i don't care about any such game that is not yet released.
At least some indie studios like basilisk games release cool new games regularly.

Houston, uh I have a problem, I installed it, played a bit singleplayer but when I want to play multiplayer the ping is to damn high! Its not because of my internet (sure its crappy but the ping should be below 100), I start lets say WoW and the ping is just fine (and I'm playing on a German server), I downloaded the latest patch and I tried something via Hamachi or something but I screwed it up even more, now when I go internet and refresh it nothing shows up. I'm reinstalling it.

EDIT: But judging by the single player its awesome, anyone got any good mods (historical accuracy or napoleonic or something)

For your multiplayer problem hamachi wouldn't do anything at all unless you are playing with a friend who is also using it and hosting the server... just sort the servers by ping and choose the lowest one. If the pings are still too high then someone in your house (or you) is probably downloading something.

I recommend playing the heck out of native Warband before trying the multiplayer and other mods because both of those tend to be more difficult.

As for mods:

Singleplayer:
Brytenwalda (mid-600s British Isles), Sword of Damocles: Warlords, Floris Mod Pack, Prophesy of Pendor, and 1257 AD are all excellent mods and there are many others.

Mutliplayer:
Mount&Musket is a Napoleonic warfare mod, with regular weekly events for both Europe and North America.

Mount&Gladius is a recently revived Roman mod and currently has Romans vs Gauls although it is still in heavy development.

Secession is a US Civil War mod that is pretty neat although still needs more development. It also has a weekly event.

Vikingr is another excellent mod, although unfortunately it doesn't have any NA servers.

There are also various other mods listed here:

EDIT: I do NOT recommend the Persistent World mods, most of the servers have pages of rules (which are hardly followed but still bannable), and a particularly whiny and trollish community with lots of griefers.

WFaS is pretty fun too, if you like 17th century warfare and can get past the initial half hour or so of nearly dying every battle.

Hint: Carbine or pistol + horse = only way to constantly not die

I'd recommend getting Sword of Damocles after you take some time to familiarize yourself with the game and other mods.

Native Expanded is pretty fun too. Basically the same as native, but with lots more items, troops, a few new characters, etc.

Just got Trapped Dead. It's not an amazing game but it is a fun little time waster.

Tried Kingdoms of Amalur - it's great so far. (and it's better knowing how much this will annoy Maniacal)

Tho you can tell the producer worked on some TES game before - the interface is horrible, slightly more horrible than Skyrim.

It doesn't, I don't care if you enjoy it, I enjoyed playing The Scourge Project (do yourself a favour and do NOT play it) and the only thing it didn't screw up was the shooting (such a terrible game, its own saving grace was that it is co-op and so bad its funny).

Snagged a sweet space combat game called Spacefarer yesterday

I got an urge to play some PS2 games, so I dusted mine off and went out and bought Resident Evil: Outbreak and Resident Evil: Outbreak File 2. I also pre-ordered Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. I guess I'm on a little bit of a Resident Evil kick right now too.
