The "I Got A New Game!" Thread

Apparently the Kingdoms of Amalur story was written by some important fantasy writer. Maybe i'm just daft, but so far, the story is either too simple or too complicated - i can't tell which one is it.
Anyway, the people who liked the story a lot did say it gets a while to get into it ...

R.A. Salvatore doesn't exactly write deep and philosophical fantasy, from a recent interview it seems he wrote the main parts of the story for KoA but was working with a few other writers who fleshed out the details, dialogue and stuff. He said he didn't really tell them what to do or how to think.

Got Mafia II using the 50% off coupon I received for it during the Steam Christmas sale.

Making History... is that from Wargaming, by any chance?

I got Civ 5 with all DLC for $12 last weekend. 75% off from Steam. I like it and think that G&K will make it even better.

Just played an indie game "To the Moon".
Damn that was a sad story. :(

Recently picked up Starfarer from Fractal. It is an alpha for 10 bucks. It has some missions and a campaign mode.

The .51 patch gave the map more functionality and added some outposts for the pirates and Tri-Tachyon Corporation :)

Playing "Fate of the World - Tipping point"

Damn, stopping global warming and saving the planet is harder than it looks ! I blame it all on Africa.

You actually have to make China's rapidly growing economy at the start, tame a few countries' tendency to political instability, and generally play the card that makes everyone a tree hugger (since it's actually the secret economic move of the game). That and win the tech race. I'll admit I haven't really won more than 1 scenario in this game though.

I won 2 !
I don't think making them tree huggers counts that much. I made everyone except america an eco-fanatic, yet india is still chugging tons of pollution. From what i've seen the tree hugging makes them more accepting of policies like the veggies revolution or the cap&trade carbon emissions. It also changed the cards to wich they respond positively&negatively. It made them pissed off that i was using the aerosol thing to bring down the temperature  - that's basically the only way i can manage to decrease the temperature.
It's funny that i'm doing my best not to fail epically untill 2200, yet the temperature is almost up by 6 degrees (the objective for the doctor apocalypse scenario ).

I'm currently playing Assassins Creed Brotherhood. Looks awesome so far.

It's not a "new" game, but it is a game that I only recently have gotten (again).

I went to my parent's house and picked up an old X-box game I haven't played in what seems like forever, Timesplitters: Future Perfect.

Now THAT is a great game. I like it much more than TF2. This series would be huge if it ever came to the PC, IMO.
