I imagine it evolved somewhat to carry the sense of 'tin hat dictator' - in other words, one who wears a tin hat, or military helmet.

If I bought up a wild lion cub in my home and he was domesticated (or so it seemed to me) is there any chance when my lion grows up into a big cat he might just turn round and start eating me?

Well, "tamed" would probably be the proper term rather than "domesticated" but it really makes no difference other than a tamed animal is less reliable that a species domesticated for an extended period of time and bred to remove aggression.

Yes, there is always a chance for an animal to turn around and attack. There could be a multitude of reasons from particular circumstances, to abuse, to the animal just feeling like it.
As I recall, Roy from Siegfried & Roy was pretty badly injuredby their tiger that was raised from a pup, putting them into retirement .

Yes. Wild animals are not reliably trainable. People try to keep big cats as pets all the time. It frequently does not work out.

Damn, it would be so cool just to have a big cat like that. How about wolves? Don't they have the same affection and loyalty for their owners as dogs? It would be awesome to have at least one vicious animal in the house ;)

Wolves are not much better. People who try and keep wolves not unlikely to be killed by them if they get lax on caging and controlling. Which really rather destroys the purpose of trying to keep them as a "pet."

Yeah, "vicious animals" as pets is basically a contradiction in itself.

Most breeds of dogs have been bred for hundreds of generations to remove aggression and other wolf traits while promoting loyalty and such.
Wolves can make good pets, but are still unreliable and under many circumstances will become hostile.

Better to find a dog that looks like a wolf.

There is a new trend in Britain amongst our undesirable elements who breed big, nasty aggressive dogs. It's not uncommon to read about Dogs who've been destroyed after mutilating a child in the park. They are illegal now but it is the new craze if your into intimidating your neighbours.

Does a lot of people here watch the NFL?

Will you settle for a domesticated fox instead? I want one.

Even though they are 'silver' foxes, occasionally one will pop out with a red coat like the Todd from the Fox and the Hound.

I can tolerate it for the sake of conversation and interest with family members who enjoy that activity. I can't stand that particular sport tho. :/
