The many questions-not-worth-their-own-thread question thread XV

Yeah, but it's correct in two places at the same time: in one place AM, and in another PM.

Ok, what you said is also true: Twice a day for each timezone. These however overlap so that it isn't 48, but 24 times a day.

that's what i thought, but then, i considered this, if it is 9am in one zone and 9pm in another zone, does that make the settings on the clock right twice at the same time?

also, there r a bunch of wierd time zones around the world....for example, venezuela and iran seem to be on 1/2 hour offsets :crazyeye:

what is the difference between an interest and an obsession?

An obsession is an interest taken too far.

Anyhow, just for curiosity: who else is having problems with flash player "crashing" because Firefox's Plugin Container thought that loading a video means the program isn't responding?

Generally, an obsession is about intense and pathological interest, although there can be obsessive behavior that isn't really about interest in something. A person could obsessively wash their hands, for instance.

Obsessions have an implication of something unhealthy in the psychology. Interest is a normal human trait except when its degree elevates to obsession.

That's highly subjective, but I'd say an obsession is an interest that one pursues to the exclusion of most everything else. Various interests can coexist. Obsessions tend to be singular.

Latest version of flash, yeah.

obssessions are generally classifeid as "thoughts u can't get out of your head", even though u know they may be silly or nonsensical, as opposed to a delusion which u dont realise is silly or nonsensical

the action of trying to get rid of the obsessive thought is a compulsion

I don't have that problem, but then I turned off the plugin container. It shouldn't hurt firefox, and it gets rid of about 40,000KB of RAM.

Reduces RAM usage? I thought Plugin Container just compartmentalized the programs. Didn't know it would consume extra memory.

The solution I have right now is turning off the crash reporting.

Are USB drives supposed to heat up when theyre being used? I didnt think there were any moving parts.

How does one measure the randomness
Measuring randomness is basically impossible in an objective sense, isn't it? Since randomness is more or less just intuition?
