No. I believe the last, was in the 50s. The F4U Corsair was built up until about 1952. And the piston engine fighters that were still in use with 3rd world countries in the 60s were Corsairs, Mustangs, and I think some Thunderbolts. Though I don't know what year the Soviets built their last piston engine fighter. But by the early 50s they were building Mig jets. So no reason to build piston engine fighters. The Corsair only remained in production in part because the US Marines were flying it, and there were few jets that were carrier capable before the middle 50s. IIRC, the last air battle between piston engine fighters was in the late 60s between 2 Central American countries both flying Corsairs.

Actually, if you count general aviation (private small two-four seater). There are still piston powered aircraft being made.

Geez Cutlass, way to get in the way of a Canadian armed forces joke.

We need the Canadians to back up the Coast Guard. So they need some real equipment.

Embraer-SuperTucano-0806b.jpg

Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano

First produced: 2003
Countries that fly it: Brazil, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Indonesia, and has been ordered by Guatemala and Angola (with the US considering purchasing it for Afghanistan).

It's not a fighter exactly, but it is used for drug interdiction (intercepting drug-carrying aircraft) and if a war broke out, I could see the countries that fly this adapting it for air-to-air use, particularly against helicopters.

Edit: Found this variant -
A-29A Single-seater for attack and armed reconnaissance (on interdiction tasks), attack and cover (on close air support tasks), able to intercept and destroy low performance aircraft. Incorporates an additional fuel tank (+ 400 liters).

I'd love to see a graph plotting number of mosques vs. economic prosperity in the EU.
