In a shocking move, India has been destroyed by Korea and Oz launching a surprise invasion. Their basis is that India did not amass enough of a military to be viable, and thus was a liability to the Comintern. Critics allege it is simply an attempt by Oz and Korea's radical Toshiro government to try and recover from the Hawai'ian nuclear assault of years past. But they will reap what they have sown - the many ISS agents who fled the country have pledged allegiance to the Government in Exile.
Meanwhile, Vietnam has switched sides, having become a capitalist dictatorship, a military coup having overthrown the Communist Party. The junta has pledged loyalty to Italy, which has eagerly accepted its new trade partner. Asia is rapidly becoming a source of Fifth Columns - the Demon Realm and Vietnam to name a few. Meanwhile, the Comintern's dominance of China has dissolved, with Mongolia, Wuhan, Beijing and Shanghai all having switched to non-Comintern regimes. China is now a power game between Xinjiang, the Demon Realm, and the Papal States. All the while, the Chinese Resistance Front seeks to regain control of the region; the Free China movement also continues to harass Papist forces despite being attacked by both Shanghai and Wuhan.
Meanwhile, the Demon Realm has been formally classed as a dictatorship by Freedom House; Lord Iblis has stripped away any semblance of democracy and concentrated his power. The country is very secretive, however, and has mostly kept to itself - while it has assisted neutral nations with their research, it has sought to remain a pivot in a world that is torn between the Comintern and the Warsaw Pact.
Debates raged in the UN with attempts to condemn the Comintern for its horrific betrayal; the acidic remarks were such that they threatened to shred the Non-Aggression Pact Poland has sponsored in the hopes of avoiding a devastating war between the blocs. While the measure failed, the reprisal is still felt: Somalia, Chile, and Kongo have closed their markets to Angola, Korea and Oz.
Massive thefts have occurred that bring back chilling memories of the mysterious thefts well over a decade ago. Who was behind it, if the culprit is one and not many?
Recessions and bankruptcies have flooded the Comintern, crippling it even further, while mighty Scotireland and its close ally the Lowlands have found themselves hit by a recession as well, their bubble having burst at last.

TF's Tips:
-It is more useful to invest all in one tech than equally divide it, as you'll get the benefit from a completed tech immediately.
-Empires will start to rupture at turn's end if weak enough. For this to happen, you must have only 25% more income than a client. Former clients (usually) show interest in remaining friendly, but will relegate your relationship to a mere alliance. If a radical regime is in power, however, they will usually instead try to form alliances, or may even try to break off other clients to form one.
-Defensive states get at least 20% against spy missions provided they have at least one spy. Make sure to pool agents with your clients or allies, and regularly rebuild your forces.
-Spies always kill 10% of their value on the opposing side.
-If you steal tech and there's no tech to steal, your spies go for money instead. If you're that deep in their computer network, why not?
Announcements:
A Rising Star - Java
A state that rose triumphant from a bloody civil war that Hawai'i and its enemies both traded blows to try and tilt one way or another, Java has achieved a status of being just as wealthy as Finland, a "major power." It has now emerged as another member of the Comintern, ready to defend its goals and fight for its aims in the Asia-Pacific region.
The World Bank
Funded by loans, gifts and dues, the World Bank has established itself to try and stabilise the global climate. All nations can henceforth borrow against their future income, to the value of 100% of their current income. While lucrative, bear in mind the consequences of bankruptcy will be harsh.
MADness
It is now possible to sell WMD technologies - Chemical, PB and Nuclear - without losing your own technology. It is also possible to gift them, but if WMD knowledge becomes TOO widespread, it is very probably a rogue minor state could easily get its hands on the technology as well...
Espionage Alterations
To speed up updates, it is only possible to do FIVE missions per turn from now on. Updates are often slowed because of the sheer number of missions espionage powers do.
There are 6140 agents in the world, including NGO officers.
