Now that's something I can vote for.

Actually, I don't think the great wall should qualify. I don't think it's wonderful.

Yeah, but it's big, impressive and attracts millions of tourists. That seems to be the basis of the criteria.Marsden said:Actually, I don't think the great wall should qualify. I don't think it's wonderful.
Anyone who wants to know what the REAL, modern, 7 world wonders are today merely has to analyse statistical tourism landmark data from across the globe. Let the numbers speak for themselves, just as popularity deemed the original wonders as wonders.
Christ Redeemer for instance, doesn't pull in half as many international tourists as the Statue of Liberty. I'm not an American, before anyone jumps to conclusions.
Merely pointing out the obvious, that true "wonders" attract millions, the top seven that attract the most, by defacto, ARE the modern 7 wonders.

I wonder how many people visit large shopping malls!?.....Must be more than The Statue Of Liberty!?![]()
I think if you lived in say Minneapolis (MOA), Edmonton (WEM) or even Houston (the Galleria), these shopping malls would be considered important Landmarks by you.
And if you were on Welfare........
Different strokes for different folks!![]()
I know, that winning kinda tarnished the whole process. You can at least argue about the others.Cristo Redentor is a total joke - it's essentially a big statue built in modern times - it required no groundbreaking feat of architecture or engineering, there are thousands of statues like this around the world. It's not even pretty. The only good thing about it is that it is built in a picturesque spot - but then again, so are most holiday resorts and noone is voting them "Wonders of the World" either.
As usual in such contest, nationalist idiots made it a farce. Enjoy your victory - noone else cares.

100-150 years ago, Great Britain was THE Superpower of the World (The "efficient" German Empire was twice defeated, remember?)..........so how about something from them? British Museum, Windsor Castle, Tower Of London/Tower Bridge, Big Ben/Houses Of Parliament, Royal Albert Hall, St. Paul's Cathedral?...As for me, i think that the Wonders should have reflected not past history of a country *which would be more Ancient Wonders*, but symbolise the Modern Superpowers/cultural Achievements
that is why i wanted the New Wonders of the World to be, ***WITH ALL BAD THOUGHTS ASIDE!!!***
1-Statue of Liberty-for the diversity and integrity of America
2-Kremlin/St. Basils Square-for the strenght of the Russia/USSR
3-Neuchwanstein Castle-for the efficiency of the German Empire
4-Sydney Opera House-for the cultural rebirth of the Pacific Culture
5-Taj Mahal*-for the divine right of love
6-Christ Redeemer*-for the recognition of God
7-Eiffel Tower*-for the enlightenment, and advancement
