Every year or two, we have some crisis - 2003 Iraq War, 2006 Israeli-Hezbollah war in Lebanon, 2008 Russian-Georgian war, 2009 Gaza war and so forth.

So, what will be the NEXT one? Now you have an opportunity to become a prophet :D Tell us which place is most likely to burst up in flames, why and how will the situation unfold.

Use spoiler tags for witty comments about Luxembourg-Andorra war etc. :p

It's quite a wonder that regular war between Zimbabwe and one of it's neighbours hasn't broken out yet. I mean, at some time Mugabe will start to blame one of them for all their troubles instead of the British...

I could suspect armed conflict to arise between Russia and another former Soviet nation - perhaps because of terrorism or a struggle over energi resources.

I don't believe we will see war erupt between India and Pakistan - there's too much at stake for both of them and such a conflict could very quickly spiral out of control.

There are a lot of other lowgrade conflicts happening that aren't as TV-ready and thus under covered.

didnt you hear according to mugabe botswana is training an army of zimbabwean dissidents to overthrow him, botwana is the only one of zimbabwes neighbours who have vocally opposed him but i dont think he would try it something like that would surely give britain an excuse especially with the pull out from iraq

Of course, there are many low-intensity conflicts dragging on in many parts of the world - Sri Lanka, Darfur, Congo any others.

I am more interested in the "sudden" conflicts, which erupt from time to time, or low-intensity conflicts which suddenly become much more intense (like the latest Gaza battle).

the conflict in Congo and Darfur is "low-intensity?"

oh, wait, it's just not with white-looking poeple.

Its going to be either Iran vs US/Israel or India/Pakistan.

Russia and Ukraine arent going to go to war, Georgia wouldnt look crooked at Russia again, Taiwan/Formosa v China is not going to turn into a war... oviously nothing in North america, Venezuela and Columbia dont like eachother but there wont be a war, I suppose Zimbabwe could be invaded but I dont see it. Cambodia v Thailand is a vague possibility.

murdoch is planning one in south america i've heard, change of ambience and all.

then we can all wank off to hot brazilian girls (or transvestites, depends on at which time you turn on your tv) getting crushed by artillery fire before we lose interest about a week later.

What I wonder is when we will next see a war where the outcome isnt a foregone conclusion.

the last big war I cant think of where you really didnt know who would win was Iran Iraq. dont these people know there are fat westerners who need to be entertained by their misery?

As I said to Arwon, this is not quite what I meant.
These are the conflicts that also go intense from time to time. But they're not the sexy conflicts according to the media.

Ukraine gas-terrorists will cause the next sexy conflict.

Gee, you simply have to misinterpret my every word, haven't you? It was probably your new year resolution or something.

By low-intensity conflicts, I mean dragged guerilla campaigns not involving major powers, where the insensity of the fighting (of the force being applied by either side in terms of firepower) remains low most of the time.

It's a commonly used term, get over it.

Iran vs. some other nation.

I think the Israelis are getting dangerously close to that.

Or maybe Slovakia will invade the Czech Rep.

Nah, their military is even more pathetic than ours, and that's something really notable after the 8 years of Czech left-wing's "war on the military" policies
