In this case - they run Colonialism, and I bought a couple of slaves from them

Looking at the code they get the title if they run Slavery or Manorialism (though not Caste System?). I'm guessing they must be switching to either of those pretty often.

I noticed a lot of people say AI cannot naval invade.Last game as Italy, England brought 3 swordsmen on 2 cogs, surprise-attacked me, and conquered my ill-defended Sicily. Naturally, I was worried here when France sailed across the world and DOWed on me.
They brought a single horse archer.

In my latest Russia game, Sweden brought a cog to attack Kem. It had two bombards that could do nothing but sit outside the undefended city.

It's funny how in my last game as Sweden Poland also made the brilliant strategic decision of daring naval invasion with Bombard force.

There must be something in the (Batlic) water.

Somehow, despite me getting the pretty typical conqueror of Portugal, the Inca are having to fight off... the Ethiopians?
