The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

And i thought this was the last thread that would get derailed by a food-related discussion :p

Don't let them bully you SK, most of your fellow country men do not know the wonders of curry, they have no right to speak about food.

This is true.

Thai food is where it is at. Mexican food has elements of excitement and thrill, but it is dragged down by its excessive grease and fat and gluttony in most of its mainstream, processed areas. Thai food! Oh, Thai food. -- that, on the other hand, is exciting and thrilling AND leaves you with a clean feeling heart. It is the DRIVE, and the POWER of the Thai food that moves all people to acts of greater enlightenment. It is the exact feeling of FREEDOM, of self-fulfilling manifest destiny. The true sense of higher order, of stability, of brotherhood.

Thai food is good, although surprisingly there isn't much if it around where i live so I don't have it all that often. I like spring/summer rolls myself.

Chipotle is the cheat code that unlocks all keyboard shortcuts that are tied to cheating.

Thanks.

@hj While that may be true for some people... I'm Japanese, and eat curry on almost a weekly basis. :P

Is there curry in Japanese food? I honestly don't know a lot about Japanese food beyond sushi and hibachi (sp?) so forgive me if this sounds stupid.

Yep. The British introduced it to us, but like all foreign food, we modified it to great extent. Something similar happened to beef stew, which became our nikujaga. Another fabulous dish.

Yeah, Japanese people really like food.

And for each spec (in future) +2tech,+1food, and +1hammer (State property) +2culture(with Chapell). For any (Europe in priority) civ it is very strong boost.

I guess all those slaves don't mind their plight as long as they get to go to the opera every now and then.

Heh. To go see Django or something.

And some stupid question: why some civ's can't use slaves as specialist?
Civs that can create slaves in their native regions are supposed to sell them.

They should be able to use them outside of Europe.

Aztec slaves shouldn't be available to other civs at all.

Very logical, actually, as slaves were never brought to Europe and used there; they were always used in the colonies.

The English building a city right next to the American stack on exactly the turn they spawned, preventing the city from being obliterated by the spawn and displacing the Yanks to build their capital inland.

Taoism founded in Jerusalem! I don't know what was wrong with China; they seemed perfectly fine when I spawned as Spain.

Taoist Jerusalem is all too common. Perhaps a check to make sure at least one civ has a tech before independents get it is in order? Or just give them an extreme penalty for it.

I think currently they make up most of the slaves in game right now. They are certainly trade-able, conquistadors capture and distribute them, and Kongo, Mali , etc. never make them, only get them from defeated units, which only makes 2-3 a game at most.
I would first make all units that are native sub-Saharan African give a slave when killed, both barbarian/native impi, askari and pombos along with any units from Mali, Kongo, or Ethiopia. Next would be to make Aztec slaves convert to workers when captured, much like settlers.

Do the traded Aztec slaves still have their special abilities?

No, they do not. But they do represent almost all of the slaves in the world. The longer Aztec lasts, the more slaves there are.

It's the Persians. China sometimes researches Construction first and totally forgets about Calendar, and then the Persians will most probably found Taoism (in Jerusalem).
