The "OMG! Look what happened!" Thread

Whacky coincidence, I just had the same thing happen in a Roman game I just started. Because Rome is human, the Greek Roma is not auto-razed. Roma and Mediolanum flip with Mediolanum becoming the capital.

Here's the game if anyone is interested in playing it. Greece will declare war after Roma flips giving you an additional 4 legionaries.

If you haven't noticed, Roma should be somewhere between those 2 tiles, but since that's impossible both tiles are called Roma. Like many other cities have more than 1 tile with their name on it.

The Romans allways spawn 1 W and that city will then be auto-razed, because they otherwise wouldn't have Roma as capital.

BTW, is it offensive to a Greek person to say you can't see the difference between a Greek and a Turk?

I've been on vacation in both countries and I can't understand both languages and racially the populations aren't so different, are they?

About as offensive as telling an Indian you can't tell the difference between an Indian and a Pakistani

The only difference is their religion: They're basically the same people: Indo-Aryan.

But to stay on-topic:

What? The Maya have turned green!

Generally, the Turks have a bit more "Eastern" or "Asian" characteristics, and the Greeks a bit more "Slavic". However, this doesn't go very far, and one can, well not very easily, but well, make a Greek for a Turk and vice versa. On the other hand, both cultures have common points (we had borrowed things from Turks during the Ottoman years). To the point.

Depends on the case. For some, plays no role if you call them whatever (I would include myself there). However, as in many other Balkan countries, there is an ethnicist faction (not very big, but everyone of them is at the internet, to make themselves look many), which dream of taking over Northern Epirus (South Albania), FYROM and reaching Istanbul . There is also some hatred from politically normal people (this goes particularly to Albanians who are around 1 million in Greece as immigrants, and Turks for many reasons, mostly the Turkocracy and the Northern Cyprus incident) to our neighbors. So, I would say it depends on the person, but there is a good possibility someone would be offended.

On an offtopic note, were your holidays here nice?

To be honest: I liked my time in Greece (Creta) better than my time in Turkey (Turkish Riviera), but that has more to do with the organization than the country itself.

It's funny that first it was all Greek (there was no Turkey in the Hellenic world) and after 1300 it was all Turkey.

I'm sure my people (Dutch) didn't like Spaniards much short after their oppression. Nowadays Spain is among the favorite holiday locations for Dutch people.

Which would be the exact opposite had Robben exploited that super pass from Sneijder :D

Me finds nothing strange:

*Independent small kingdoms in Italy. Duchy of Mediolanum, Papal States and Kingdom of Sicily

*France locked up in France, also captured Durrachium to have a stake of the Mediterranean.

*Austrohungary allied with Bavaria, and taken Athens to counter Dyrrachium's control from the French. They also hold some wasteland to the north, who noone apparently cares about

*Turkey and Russia involved in a Crimea war

*Vikings come to aid the Teutonic Knights against the Russian expansion, taking them into their protection

*The Pommeranian merchants realise it is to their benefit to join a nation with similar values, like the Netherlands

*England doesn't care

:crazyeye:

What about German Capital of Wien?

French Duras?

Islamic-looking Europe? Ath Cliath in the 1400s?

Word irony?

Seriously, the Islamic Europe thingy is quite usual to be considered OMG, after many screenies depicting that been uploaded there. And Ath Cliath happens when England turtles, ie a bit more often than rarely.

Americans used to hate the Irish, Italian, and other European immigrants. Now we like them, and now we hate the Latino immigrants. That's a touchy subject though.

@Weird Europe: I'd say I've seen weirder, but I'm pretty sure we've all seen an Islamic Europe at some point on a 3000 BC start.

I played as the Indians and I don't researched the religions.
When the persians spawned, they have founded buddhism!

Not really possible in RFC--because the Greeks spawn with Meditation. So unless you're playing RAND in a large world (or smaller) where the Greeks don't spawn.

What makes that weird, IMO, is that Wien is the German capital and the Dutch have founded Rostock. I have never seen it. Where is Berlin? It is also quite rare to see Dyras under Fench or that England has founded Exeter instead Plymouth. Then there is Memel and for some reason Germany has ventured to Finland. Also Rome rarely founds Tarentum. Russo-Turkish thing isn't that rare, but all this combined makes Europe quite weird. Islamic Europe is quite usual (BTW France and Russia are Jewish), but it too adds up to the whole picture.

Oh, right. I forgot about that...

The AI never manages to reach Spain. The suckers.

What AI? I was playing as Arabia if you haven't noticed.

On a second note on my 'crazy Aztec'-post: Tenochtitlan didn't exist and instead there was a city 1 south on the dye and 1 city northeast of where Tenochtitlan would be (which is a much better city site IMHO).

Oh yes, and I collapsed the next turn. The only unhistorical (red area) cities I got as Arabia were Venice, Rome, Athens, Lefkosa, Anavarin and Jajce (Zadar if you are Germany). Is that too much? I wasn't THAT big. (Tiran is yellow).
And I had a Summer Palace build in Delhi. Now I remember why I didn't play them in months. I always collapse.
