Let's play a game, OT! Several news sources have posted the Palin emails online. (For those of you who don't know what the heck I'm talking about, here's a sample article with some basic info.) There's something like 24,000 pages worth of emails that reporters are crawling through right now, looking for juicy bits -- so why not join in?

Here's what I propose: each of us should look at the archives, find a funny/interesting/entertaining passage, and then post it, along with the date and who is talking (Preferably Palin; who cares about her advisers?). It can be pretty much any passage you like -- it can make her look bad, or good, be funny or sad, or whatever. The only requirement is that it be genuinely interesting in some degree.

Fun bit number 1! Sarah Palin on wolf hunting:

Subject: Wolves
I didn't know daily news was already publishing on wolves. Bottom line:state
helicopters should be last resort, they're expensive and take opportunity
from locals.
We need to pay for locals' fuel, bounty on predators, etc. Until
these offers are exhausted we need more aggressive pursuit of incentives
provided to those most affected by the predator problem.
Also, curious as to why Board passes buck to governor on this one but not
other biological management decisions? Makes it political .
We have to act quickly on this as predators are acting quickly and rural
families face ridiculous situation of being forced to import more beef
instead of feeding their families our healthy staple of alaskan game.

Nonsense. Unacceptable - and not on my watch.
Todd interviewed buddies who live out some confirmation that state
intervention isn't first choice w/the locals. But we need to incentivize
here. for trappers included.

The first one kinda makes sense to me, importing beef from the lower US to Alaska must be expensive as hell, Alaskan natives are probably better off hunting the local animals.

I'll leave the work to the professionals... the good stuff will come up eventually anyway. :D

If the game is so close to extinct that a handful of wolves prevent hunting, than the hunting should be outlawed in the first place.

hook up with a guy named Pete Rouse.
Rouse was once chief-of--staff for then-Lieutenant Governor Terry Miller. He's now chlef?of-staff

A few weeks ago. Jerry wrote:

Pete has an Interest in Alaska, so lt is natural that he would be following
the Governors progress. In September. Pete said that he thought Sarah
Palin would win the Govemors raoe (don't know if he saw Democratic
polling data or what). Pete has served as Senator DaschIe's Chief of
Staff, and is now Senator Obama's Chief of Staff.
Senator Ted Stevens loves Pete as the Senator and I had a long
discussion one night about Pete at a fundraising dinner. Might be worth
the Governors time to visit with Pete when she is next in D.C.

in fact. Pete was thinking
seriously of retiring after Daschle was defeated but the Senate
Democrats recruited Pete to help Senator Obama learn the ropes In
and the Senate.
I can scrounge up a phone number. if you like.
Chris

It's only 2007, so it isn't that big of a deal, but he announced he was running for president like two weeks earlier and he had been senator since 2005.

And another: I'll highlight the interesting things here.

I am so sorry that the office is swamped like this! Dinosaurs even?! I'll try to
run through some of these in my head before responding. And the old, used tanning bed that
my girls have used a handful of times in Juneau? Yes, we paid for it ourselves. I, too,
will continue to be dismayed at the media and am thankful you and Sharon are not part of
the stange going's-on in the media world of today. -

Governor,
Nothing new today on the election numbers that I've heard.
My understanding is that someone, either Van Flein or the campaign, is doing a presse:
related to Monegan as we speak. I haven't heard from anyone exactly what has been said.
Topics today:
1) Use of personal e-mail accounts. AP and Channel 2 have tried to do follows of today's
ADN story, which includes comments I made three weeks ago when I thought Lisa Demer was A
pitching a ,story idea (but in fact was secretly taping me). Per today's staff meeting
regarding communications that occurred over the weekend, we're referring the inquiries to
the campaign .
2) Kyle Hopkins has been trying to sandbag commissioners on talking to him about how state
goverment possibly could work with you on the road. Annette responded before hearing that
we were trying to put a lid on it. Not sure what if anything the campaign is saying about
this.
3) The tanning bed at the Governor's House. My understanding is that you paid for this.
Some website is implying otherwise, triggering various phone calls from the media.
4) Grace at Channel 11 wanted to know your feelings on the Knik Arm Bridge. I left her a
voice mail message simply saying that you want a complete review and a public process.
5) Subpoenas. I understand the lawyers have a letter from you they're trying to parse.
Anything to add there? It appears that Mike Barnhill already had sent a letter to
-- in response to Elton's letter in which Elton conceded that the Department
of Law interpretation that state employees aren't facing criminal charges is the correct
interpretation -- saying that the Admin folks would cooperate and talk. That has been
reported already.
Various and sundry questions from last week:

--Is it your belief that dinosaurs and humans co-existed at one time? I said I have never
spoken to you about this. (There is an interesting reference to "Behemoth" in the Old if
Testament.)

--What was your attitude toward the "rape kits" under Chief Fannon? (A former acquaintance
of mine from Haines, by the way.)
--How is decision-making shared between you and Craig Campbell?
--Do you have a favorite poem?
I continue to be dismayed at the media.

I hope you are well.

--Bill

-People lecture her on her email use? Your telling me.
-She paid for a tanning bed!
-Mr. McCallister is concerned over dinosaurs and Palin uses it as a joke her response.

Wow this is fun. I think ever politician's email should be displayed for me to look at.

Does this mean that YOU received Sarah Palin's first E mail.

Do you live in Russia.

I've been reading the CBC comments about this. Quite entertaining, really... I hadn't thought it was possible to find a politician more stupid than our own Stockwell Day, but it looks like she's it.

I'm still holding out for Obama's emails. :D

not so entertaining so far, ay....so tina fey doesnt actually write any of sarah palin's real emails?

I'm still holding out for Obama's emails. :D

Because we must always present the trite, predictable line of "and take that!"

I.... errr... what?

But really, if we really need to go through some candidate's emails, then surely we shouldn't exclude the President's emails. Unless, of course, you're willing to admit that all this email stuff is just another attempt at harassing Palin...

This had nothing to do with her being a candidate for anything, it was only related to her having been governor. Do a little research before you attempt silly deflections.

Anyway I haven't heard anything especially interesting come out of this.

The use of the word "attempt" implies that people need to actually try to defame Palin.

Yeah, and they are searching her emails as a governor because they want dirt to use in the elections. If she weren't a possible Presidential candidate, they never would have started searching through the records.

People still try to defame her. It's quite obvious.
