The Post 20 Blues..

I also find it annoying when I don't quote someone because I think my post will go directly below their post, making it obvious that I'm referring to them, when in fact the post is the 21st post so it'll go on the next page. If the 20th post was moved to the next page as I suggested, we wouldn't have this problem.

And who will be the unlucky person to get the first post in page 2?

Me?

Edit: nope.

As a side comment, ainwood has an uncanny ability to win these "who posts last" contests...

There should be something to deal with that as well. If you want to be able to reserve post number 21 (or 20 for that matter), you should be able to do so with impunity. The government should not stop you from your constitutional right to post at whatever post number you want. It's a travesty, quite frankly, that this continues even to this day.

EDIT: I also disagree with edits, because they break up posts and disturb the natural flow of the forum. They should be banned. If you want to add something, you can post another post. There is no legitimate reason why anyone would want to edit a post.

I edited to stop you posting a quick "no" after my post.

I will agree, though, that edits can be a bit of a pain, especially when you want to comment on something that another poster has written, only to have it disappear before you finish your clever, witty, well-thought-out remark.

hmm, now my mind races to discovere the actual metaphor behind all this language. My current guess is illegal immigration ;)

I actually would much prefer to be #20 than #21 because sometimes in a long thread, people will just jump in after only reading the first page

the exception for me is the political cartoons thread, where I usually reserve my funniest cartoon for the top of the page, thinking people will go back more rarely

I must say, I appreciate those who reserve the (20n + 1)th post for an exceptional picture in the political cartoon thread, funny picture thread, or babe thread.

:thanx:

bold emphasis mine

Use your imagination, I'm sure you can come up with something. ;)

I can think of several legitimate reasons and one even larger one: The site frowns on multiple postings, one after the other, by the same user.

REAL men don't edit their posts. It's admitting that you were wrong the first time round. Or that you forgot something.

the site also frowns on posters who don't understand the meaning of "sarcasm" or "irony" ;)

Or you want to organize better.
Women are well known for their organisational skills. REAL men pride themselves in saying something and sticking with it until the bitter end, in spite of whatever evidence, logic or reason they must ignore at the time of writing or shortly afterwards, or whether or not it is coherent or whether it is not.

Try typing with multiple sclerosis and see if its readable.

And as for forgetting something? No doubt, advanced age can be a boon for the wisdom, but a bust for the memory.

Anyone else sick of when they reply and it happens to be the last one of the page (every 20 posts on normal setting) is often gets ignored as the conversation jumps onto the latest comment on the next page?

I often find myself having to repost in order to get noticed
I thought you were talking about adulthood depression by the thread title. :D (though actually depression is not really a funny topic if you've been thru it :undecide: )

Anyway, I have my options set at 40 posts per page so just make sure you post at multiples of forty for me to notice your posts. ;)

By the way, if I'm interested in a thread I tend to read it from top to bottom.

Then you have the same problem with the 19th page as you do now with the 20th.

Personally, I don't have any problems with the 20th page.

Edit: And this is the 20th post ;)

a new trick ..... when posting post 21 quote post 20 :D
