The Quest for Culture (QfC) - An ex-n00b Production

I revolt to caste immediately.

Turn 3 - A couple of things to note. First, with a forge, industrious and on epic a forest chop nets 123 hammers! Second, the barbarians at the city up north are stupid. They attack our cover axemen fortified in a forest with archers. It allows this:

Turn 6 - Music comes in, we get the free artist. I'm kind of at a loss what to do with him. I pick drama as the tech. I put the artist to sleep in Sadan's castle.

Turn 7 - Liz offers Calendar and 110 gold for music. I accept.

Turn 12 - Drama is in. Theology is next, as we will want to make a run at Sistine in copper city. It is artist GPP's.

Turn 13 - Just this in copper city:

Turn 15 - And to finish it off, in delhi:
untitled7il.jpg

My only suggestion to the next player is to go for sistine in Copper city and build as many temples and missionaries as we can. We need to spread religion. I also started Notre Dame in Copper, as it is GA too....it will probably need chops, but then we can farm what is chopped.

Yes, I did. Sorry, guys, I've not forgotten, I just got busy. I will play my turns soon, I will (though, given it's my bedtime now, it'll be tomorrow not today).

Turn 0 (810AD):
All looks well :) Looks like Chicago will flip to us at some point (0% American!!), and we've got 4 religions in our civ now - Chinook is Taoist. That gives us these combinations of cathedrals: HJC HJT CT even with just 6 cities, though obviously 9 is still better :)

Turn 1 (820AD):

IBT: The Khan wants us to join in some wars, I say nonono.

TUrn 2 (830AD):
Turn 3 (840AD):
Bombay: Work Boat -> Confucian Temple
Chinook: Library -> Archer

And Chicago joins us! :woohoo:

They start on a Jewish Temple as it's the cheapest building that will give us some culture & I'd quite like their borders to pop at some point ;)

Turn 4 (850AD):
Sadan's Castle: Jewish Missionary -> Archer (we're still pants with power, going to build military up too, don't want people invading)
Delhi: Lighthouse -> Archer (ditto - and archers are good at holding onto cities ;) ).

Ooh, a Great Prophet ... now lets play hunt the shrine :) Looks like Delhi is due the Kong Miao, so that's easy.

Turn 5 (860AD):
Theology discovered, start to research Philosophy (for Pacifism & the doubling of GPP)

Turn 6 (870AD):
Sadan's Castle: Archer -> Jewish Missionary
Delhi: Archer -> Hindu Missionary

The Khan converts to Hinduism, but doesn't get any happier with us

Turn 7 (880AD):
Turn 8 (890AD):
Madras: Library -> Archer (This is mostly to up the illusion of power - more units, more likely to be left in peace)

Turn 9 (900AD):
Sadan's Castle: Jewish Missionary -> Archer
Delhi: Hindu Missionary -> Archer

Turn 10 (910AD):
Chinook: Archer -> Taoist Missionary

Turn 11 (920AD):
Sadan's Castle: Archer -> Jewish Missionary
Delhi: Archer -> Hindu Missionary
Bombay: Confucian Temple -> Archer
Madras: Archer -> Jewish Temple

Turn 12 (930AD):
I tweak the science rate down a bit, doesn't change turns-to-Philosophy, but means we'll not run out of money for another 11 turns

Turn 13 (940AD):
Sadan's Castle: Jewish Missionary -> Archer

Turn 14 (950AD):
Delhi: Hindu Missionary -> Archer
Copper City: Notre Dame -> Sistine Chapel

NotreDame.jpg

Bombay: Archer -> Jewish Temple

Turn 15 (960AD):
Sadan's Castle: Archer -> Confucian Missionary (Sent the archer towards Copper City)

Our culture progresses well:

But I'm a little concerned that our lack of power makes us look like sitting ducks:

Not at all....I was kinda thinking we need one more. I might need some skips coming up here depending on when my turn comes up, so it's definitely a good thing.

We need two more cities for an optimum culture hunt so we can build all three cathedrals in the culture towns
There is a Great Scientist in Delhi and an Artist in Copper City. They can be used for a GA or the Artist could be used to bring Copper City's culture count into line with the other two, or we could save the artist for a culture bomb against a German American town once we found a neighboring village. There is a settler in the queue at Madras. Somewhere on the plain between New York and Boston, we could call it New Haven

Got it! I hesitate to give an ETA for playing given how appalling my timekeeping has been recently, but I think I can play tomorrow :)
