It's just a generic speech 1000 class for my core. I can talk about anything I want; the speech is 5 minutes with notes and I need a visual aid.

I don't want to do anything too technical or political; I'm aiming for something colorful and funtastic.

Math again ... I'm basing this on an answer Atticus gave me in one of the previous threads some months ago, and am pretty sure it's correct, but would appreciate some confirmation.

When rolling three twenty-sided dice, the chance for

... three totally different numbers is 1 * 19/20 * 18/20 = 342/400.
... any double or triple is therefore 58/400.
... any triple is 1 * 1/20 * 1/20 = 1/400.
... any double but not triple is 58/400 - 1/400 = 57/400.
... three 20s is 1/20 * 1/20 * 1/20 = 1/8000.
... two 20s but not three is 1/20 * 1/20 * 19/20 = 19/8000.
... at least two 20s is 20/8000.

Correct?

Any double but not triple is 58/400 - 20/400 because you've got to take away all the triples, not just one of them.
That seems small.

You'll have to take into account that it can be any one of the three dice which is something else than 20.

So the probability is
1/20*1/20*19/20 + 1/20*19/20+1/20 + 19/20 *1/20*1/20= 3* 1/20*1/20*19/20 =57/8000.

Pay also attention to the words you choose, they can confuse others, and sometimes even yourself. Brighteye above thought you meant "any particular triple" by "any triple". I'm not too good with English, but perhaps "some triple" or simply "triple" would be good words to use.

So the probability for double-not-triple is indeed 57/400. Notice that it's 20 times the probability of double-not-triple-20.

And don't worry if one went wrong, probabilities give plenty of opportunities to make small mistakes.
