I'm looking for a new author, something along the lines of harry turtledove, ralph peters, or john birmingham. any suggestions?
edit: and while I'm here, what do IIRC and AFAIK mean?

Philip K. Dick - The Man in the High Castle.

Not really the same type of author, but that novel is alternate history, and Philip K. Dick is awesome.

Where are my damn keys?

is there qanyway to put a password on a file.

Don't know Vista, but I would assume it's the same functionality. Right-click on the file, select Send To -> and compressed file. You'll probably have to open it after that and attach the password.

Or you can download a free zip file program that will do the same thing.

I'm pretty sure you can though? I have Vista and routinely use Notepad - but I'm not an expert on troubleshooting so sorry to hear you're having a problem.

Sure you can. In XP, under the folder options, view tab, there's a checkbox for 'Hide extensions of known file types'. Uncheck that, then do a save as...filename.xml.

Not sure if Vista has exactly this, but probably something similar.

I'm still searching for a philosophy I can agree with fully- but then, I suppose everyone is, and I'll just have to settle for the philosophy of myself;)

Good luck for the quest :goodjob:

Even if you put together your own ideology it's good to know what other people have said, as they often have captured the ideas in better words.

Well if I could find what I am looking for on Google would I come and ask here?

I know, I was ranting the other day about how Google really sucks at actually giving a lot of results, if it's not something commercial.
