Where should you seek employment if you want to do scientific research but do not want to teach?

I've heard they'll seek you out more-so than you'll be seeking them out. By 'them', I mean big multinationals, government agencies, etc.

Depends what field(s) you're in, I suppose.

What book/article/what have you could be recommended as a good starting point for reading about and understanding existentialism?

I'm looking for a website that would provide me with a simple message board and a couple MB webspace to host files. Ideally it would also include a scheduling tool comparable to Doodle, and I could limit access so that only people I invite can access the forum and the hosted files. Oh, and of course it should be easy to use and needs to be free. Ads are okay though. Any suggestions?

So when I was a kid I was blonde. Then as I got older my hair got progressively darker. All normal. But since last year it has begun to get lighter again (not white, I am young!). More strangely, my beard used to be very dark, almost black, and now it is getting blondish. How common is this and why the hell is it happening?

Perhaps, since I moved to a place with a pool a few years ago, but I don't think this is the "sun effect".

Your hair can change color naturally.

I have almost the same thing, except my eyebrows got dark really early on while the rest of my hair has taken it's time going darker. It was platinum when I was a kid but now it varies from season to season. I do think it has a little to do with sun exposure, but other than that... I just call it a genetic quirk.

If I've asked moderator approval for a thread, and not got any response, should I assume that it's being dealt with, or PM another one?

Question about the Emmys.. I see 2 categories, Outstanding Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series, and Outstanding Art Direction For A Single-Camera Series. Can someone tell me what these categories mean?

It depends a lot on what you're interested in, and what kind of person you are.

I wouldn't read any Kierkegaard, or they're not good place to start. I'm sure some people disagree with this, but at least I find Kierkegaard tedious to read, and as far as I know, he's considered more as a precursor to existentialism than existentialist. I suppose he's more favoured by religious people and those who have academic interests.

Sartre however is good read for everyone, much of what he writes isn't academic philosophy, but rather to related to how people live their lives. As you seem to be leftist, open mind is recommended because some things he says resmbles very much rightist rhetorics. (For rightists and teenagers some criticality is recommendable).

Unahppily I don't know many English introductions to him. Modern Movements in European Philosophy by Richard Kearney had 20 pages of him, and if I remember correctly, it was quite good (as a contrast to the rest of the book). Existentialism and Humanism is good read too, as are other essays by Sartre too.

I should probably add that I don't know very much about existentialism, and the above is written only from my own limited experiences.

It takes time. I suggest waiting for a few days.

What countries are there that don't suck? Meaning no ridiculous amounts of taxes, liberty, not dangerous and uncivilized. I was thinking Uruguay or Argentina maybe, they look nice.

This is good advice:

Keep in mind even the active mods aren't here every day. If you've waited a few days and still haven't heard, I would start PMing other mods.
