There's a very thin slot that automatically grabs the disk when you put it in, trying to retrieve the disk in that manner will surely scratch the disc up beyond usability.

Ahh, it's not the classic tray variant (I don't own consoles :p).

Oh, and another question: Is it just Conservatism in the US that is against federalism (or, rather, having "the feds" run as little as possible) or is that something that is Conservative "by nature"?

Conservatives in the US are against welfare, business regulation, and civil rights. And that is all that is behind their alleged opposition to federalism. They want those issues handled by the states, because the states do a worse job of handling them most of the time. Not because of any ideological commitment to "states rights". (Except for a statistically insignificant handful like VRWCA :) ) American conservatives are, and always have been, big government on other subjects.

So it really is just an American hijacking of the term?

So it really is just an American hijacking of the term?

If nothing else, American conservatives are past masters at hijacking the language of the debate to frame the terms of the debate. Democrats can't even pretend to touch them in doing this. And, as the old saying goes, he who controls the terms of the debate controls the debate. Keep in mind, however, that these same people who cry states rights used the federal government to coerce the states into raising the drinking age to 21 and run the drug war. Along with many other policies.

I got an "authentic yo-yo" for $0.50. I was trying to use it, but the first time it went down to the bottom of the string and stayed there. My mom said to "flick my wrist" and I ddi that and it went flying off my finger and broke a glass. How do I properly use it?

keep the string just behind your middle finger joint, flick it upward at the precise moment it hits the end of the string going down. It's probably best to youtube it for a simple tutorial, or even google it and I'm sure there are many many websites devoted to yoyos.

Juggling is easier and (slightly) more cool though.

I've seen this quote pop up a few times, and have heard it attributed to Ayn Rand, Julie Burchill, and a few other people:

"We can quantify the deaths caused by both communism and fascism, but we will never know how many deaths have been the result of capitalism; of nothing more noble than a rich man wanting to be even richer, and sacrificing the health and lives of millions of workers to achieve this. Don't even try to count how many people capitalism has killed, because not only will you not know where to begin, but also it will never end."

Who did it come from? Source?

I think he meant to say, "Because 'Orwellian' sounds better and is easier to pronounce."

'Huxleyan' is just a tongue-twister.

Is Net Neutrality doomed?
Yes it is. Too few people understand how this issue works. Because it is too technical for the average American (Congressperson) to stomach, few will rail against the corporations when they try to kill net neutrality.

is any reason why hetero sex age of consent is 16 but for homo sex it is 18? is it because of physical damage that can be done to an organism?
And for that matter, is it bad for people age 16 below to have sex?
No morals, I only want to know if they can physically damage their organism.

Still doesn't answer my question...

You mean why people talk more about 1984 and not Brave New World?

I think he meant to say, "Because 'Orwellian' sounds better and is easier to pronounce."

'Huxleyan' is just a tongue-twister.

Well, yeah. I thought he was asking why "Huxleyian" is not in popular vocabulary while "Orwellian" is. People usually refer to the book by name if they're making a comparison to Brave New World.

is any reason why hetero sex age of consent is 16 but for homo sex it is 18?

Denial.

is it because of physical damage that can be done to an organism?

That's possible at any age I would think.

And for that matter, is it bad for people age 16 below to have sex? No morals, I only want to know if they can physically damage their organism.

I'm not an expert on this.

Why does/did everyone talk about an Orwellian future but never a 'Huxleyian' future?

I saw a good article on it a couple months ago, but can't locate it now. This has some stuff to say on it. http://anotheropinionatedyouth.wordpress.com/2007/11/02/huxlian-or-orwellian-the-debate-continues/
