Grow a garden. You can grow vine vegetables, most fruit that grows on trees, lettuce, herbs and peppers for less money than going to the supermarket.
My fiancee does this on our balcony flat. It's incredibly easy, although our cat has developed a liking for eating our damn snow peas.

we have exactly $0.26 cents to our name. My mom took all the pennies out of the penny jar and who knows what she spent it on.

Maybe a few penny candies or something ...

And yet you can afford the internet...

Time to get off the internet and hunt a Caribou then.

The internet was paid for last month. My mom doesnt like food banks. I got paid today so I got some food :)

Question: How fast does it take for whatever fruit/vegetable it is that you're growing to fully mature?

Oh, and another question: Is it just Conservatism in the US that is against federalism (or, rather, having "the feds" run as little as possible) or is that something that is Conservative "by nature"?

My PS3 has some kind of virus, is there someplace I could take it to get repaired or am I SOL?

Question: How do you keep a band-aid from falling off the bottom of your foot? I got something about foot binding when I googled it. Then I tried using the word "sole" instead of foot and got some stuff about horses.

That's not a really helpful suggestion. For one, there aren't that many caribou roaming freely in urban Nova Scotia.

For two, I'm fairly certain Aimee doesn't have a license to own a rifle.

For three, even if the above two conditions were met, it's probably not legal to hunt caribou (or anything else) within city limits.

The most helpful suggestion: various social services.

Moderator Action: Please do not post anything more here about Ron Paul. There is a separate thread to discuss him. Thanks.

Call Sony?

Also, how does a PS3 get a virus?

Beats me, I was sitting up late one night playing Dragon Age when the screen blinked and then the led light on my system turned yellow for a second before turning red and blinking. After that I've been unable to get my PlayStation to work, I can't even remove my disc from my system:(. Does anyone know what the hell happened?

Depends on the vegetable (we only grow veggies, not fruits). The only one I know off the top of my head is our snow peas, which is sixteen weeks. My fiancee handles all that stuff. She's in charge of gardening, I'm in charge of kicking the cat when it eats our plants.

Do you farm enough to last you for a while? I mean, if you wait 16 weeks and you only get 1 week worth of vegetables, is it worth it?

Or maybe you keep adding new stuff every week, so that when you've got 15 weeks left you plant again so that it'll mature a week after that is done, etc.

Yeah, I meant eigenvalues/vectors

Another matrices question - what is meant by a "homogeneous system" and a "singular matrix"?

A singular matrix is a square matrix that has determinant zero, so it doesn't have an inverse.

A homogeneous system is a matrix equation of simultaneous equations

Ax = 0

e.g.

3x1 + 2x2 = 0
5x1 + 3x2 = 0

A non-homogeneous system has at least one constant term that is non-zero.

A homogeneous system is solved easily by computing A-1

EDIT: So an homogeneous system is solvable if and only if A is non-singular.

So the solution is the null-space (kernel) of the matrix and always includes a trivial solution (all xn's = 0).

There's a "Let's discuss mathematics" thread in Sci/Tech too.

@Madman - Isint there a hole where the CD drive is located to stick a long piece of metal (unfolded paperclip) to manually retrieve your disk?

The latter. Though we do still have to pay for our own vegetables, as our balcony isn't nearly large enough to cover it all. It does save us some money though.
