I know the temperature of the sun is rising constantly though maybe at a slow pace. How long until the sun becomes so hot that the oceans evaporate and most life on earth dies?

I know life here wont hold out until the sun becomes a red giant. Wont life die sooner?

Possibly as much as 4-5 billion years.

Well isnt that when the sun becomes a red giant? I know i read somewhere its supposed to become too hot way sooner than that i just cant remember where or when..

I see a lot of women wearing headscarves in Northern Virginia (faces uncovered and stuff) and I always assume they are Muslim.
More detail on the scarf? They could be Amish or Mennonite. Though, not sure if there are populations of them in NoVa.

Then maybe he just sounded old and irrelevant.

Not a whole lot of Amish or Mennonites around here.

how much alcohol is too much

lets say you have drunk a lot possibily mixed, what do you do?

A) Stick two fingers down your neck and CHUNDER EVERYWHERE
B) Wait untill your going to puke.
Stick 2 fingers down your neck. That way you control where, when and on who you puke. Besides, with the second option you could puke in your sleep.

Although it will become a red giant in 4-5 billion years, the tides keep us fixed to the Sun, so by a billion years into the future, Earth will be too hot for liquid water to exist.

Someone I was talking to on instant messenger went "brb cat rebooting computer." How can a cat do that?

If you throttle a cat hard enough it devolops vocal cords and opposable thumbs.

Then you can tell it whatever you want it to do!

..but remember throttle that cat!!

I dont think my friend would throttle her cat.

Maybe they were calling you cat as a term of endearment... it's a bit 1970s though "cool cats" and all that.

If I remember correctly if everyone refused to vote in a Presidential election, and no one gets the majority of electoral colleges, the House votes for the President and the Senate votes for the Vice President, right?
However what if no one votes in a senatorial election?

So my Dad posed a question the other day. I turn 18 before the end of the year, so my custodial account will become mine on the 24th of December.

He was curious if that means that if we quickly switch the account, I could tax my capital gains at my rate of 10% rather than his rate of 25%.

It sounds possible at first, but other sources say that if I'm not 18 when appreciated stocks are sold, it's taxed at his rate. So even when I file my taxes, all capital gains before I turned 18 will be 25%.

So which is it, if anyone knows? Could I possibly be able to cut my taxes, or will I still have to pay 25%? Either way I'm happy, though who complains about lower taxes?

However what if no one votes in a senatorial election?

More reason to give power back to the legislatures. :mischief:

No idea though. :dunno:

And people wonder why the economies are in such a state when the wealthy are always looking for ways to avoid paying as much taxation as possible. :( I'm not blaming you, TF, but this happens in the UK as well.

I hardly think it's exclusive to the UK and USA; while some people are happy to pay taxes(fair share belief and all that), that doesn't change the fact many people would like to cut their tax burden. :p Especially if they disagree with progressive taxation, as my parents(and myself, sort of) do.

And we're hardly wealthy. Not poor by any measure of the word, but we have yet to own a private yacht or even a limo(only time we had a limo was for my sister's birthday party years ago).

Well in the UK if we tracked down all the evaded taxes it would be £120billion a year apparently. So we intend to cut benefits to the most needy and lay off loads of public sector workers instead.

Tax evasion is as bad as (if not worse than) benefit scroungers.

Tax evasion is illegal; tax avoidance is not. No moral issue with me with cutting the tax burden; outright evading it by not reporting income or otherwise falsifying your reports is.

Anyway this is veering off-topic. :p
