What purpose does the silk in the corn serve? Would it be a detriment to the corn to not grow silk between the kernels? Could they at least genetically engineer the silk to not get stuck in your teeth after you eat an ear or corn?

What happens if you put a normal battery into a battery charger? I'm not brave enough to try.

Also, why do the cheap batteries die within 15 minutes while the really expensive ones (e.g. Energizer) last for months?

The reason I asked is because I found one saying that it might explode and I was wondering if that was true or just exaggeration.

It could burst. And that would ruin the charger and possibly damage other things.

Speaking of corn...

In that one episode of the Twilight Zone, with the crazy kid with godlike powers who takes over his town, the kid keeps threatening people with "sending them to the the cornfield." Was this referring to something? I don't really get what was so threatening by that.

No, that's what he actually meant. And I think it was either an endless cornfield or one you couldn't get out of.

I have a wisdom tooth coming in. I think it would have been impacted, but I had a tooth removed there in January. It doesn't hurt a whole lot. Any need to see a dentist? (It's a pain filling out tons of paperwork to convince social security that it's something important.)

Hm, my wisdom tooth came in with no problems.
It'll obviously hurt a little bit at the beginning because of it breaking through the gum there, but it gets better once it's through (my opinion, might be different for others).

The only reason I can think of to remove wisdom teeth is to prevent crowding your other teeth. If you invested in braces already, than wisdom teeth could potentially screw up your whole mouth. Just ask a dentist if it's necessary (they'll probably say it is recommended.)

You can ask the dentist next time you have an appointment, but if it were me, I wouldn't schedule an appointment just for that.

What is the official name for those spots of colors you sometimes "see" floating around after looking at a bright light?

Why do we get labor day off?

I always thought it just meant the victim would be killed by whatever means, then his corpse thrown into the corn field.
