* The phrase 'Our words are backed with NUCLEAR WEAPONS!!!' plastered loud and clear across the screen when you meet a leader with nuclear capabilities! (Iirc, we haven't had this since Civ II. It absolutely belongs in the game for that epic, menacing cold war feel. It'd make a great pair with the reintroduced war horns! Ideally, the civ's music would change too, to include more discord, menacing drums, etc.)
Statistics/demographics more detailed than civ5 misery: sortable data for all civilizations regarding their economy, military, yields, religion etc.
Similar stuff, also graphs/statistics and map replay, at the end of game (this one was already in civ5 - but not on release, it took many months and patches for this thing to appear).
Original "cultural architecture" of a city (Western/Middle Eastern/Oriental etc) remaining after conquest by civ from "another region"
Wow... Do I know anything about the games I play? Although now that you mention it, I seem to recall seeing it also in Civ V... From Hiawatha as well iirc. Perhaps it's a specific quote from him only -- or it could be that I've just played so few games where AIs managed to get nuclear weapons that I've only seen it very rarely, and thus had forgotten it. After all, I was a far worse player in the times I played Civ II, and even with the terrible AI in that game, I must've seen it dozens of times. Oh well. In any case more flavor should accompany the text (music; perhaps a cruel grin for the ruler, at least if they're a warmonger ).
Speaking of flavor... I'm sure they'll improve this, but on release the game should contain no boxes that say simply 'yes' or 'no' (or 'confirm', which I saw in the recent video -- what a travesty!). It should always be 'Consequences, schmonsequences!', 'So be it', and stuff like that (loved the former quote in Civ II! ).
I would love to get the palace screen back. Maybe with some functional addition to it (stats? governement adjustments? something like that) Is thats still a small thing? Else I like the roleplay like things from firsts posts here.
My small thing: A new "select trade route" panel that let's you easily compare between different options and select the desired one in one single click, without endless scrolling and frustration.
Victory movies - If it takes me a week to find the time between work and other commitments to finish a game, then I want a triumphal flourish when I win, not a lame splash screen.

I want tile labels, so you can name areas of land. Then when you zoom out enough, the names display over the map on the areas you've labelled. Like naming a big desert the Sahara or something and attaching that label to all the desert tiles.

Civ Rev 2 has something like that. As your units wander around you occasionally get a pop-up like "Choose a name for this feature." and you pick one of three names based on actual geographical features from your civ. Like if you are America and your unit hits a tile next to a river your choices might be Mohave River, Appalachian River, or Connecticut River.

This would be very cool for world maps! (Ideally, you could still change the names if you want to, but every tile would belong to an area to start with, for added flavor reasons only.)
