The Space Race - UN Building

It can be assumed until the UN actually has some sort of functional organs administering it that the UN territories will be under the control of whoever turned the areas over...

Spoiler: There will never be a functional organ. :p

IOT X is a learning experience for me; it shows me that a fully organic UN is -not- a good idea. :p

Ailedhoo, it's no longer SUDS territory. Macedonia handed over their 2 territories to the UN, and Arabia seems intent on taking those few territories for themselves.

As for my 3 territories, well, *scoff* what can I say. They had every intention of taking them + giving to UN, just didn't pan out that way. Darn England.

OOC: please respond in IC. It is for game purposes.

IC: Macedonia responded on itself with Arabia. Their "handing over" shows the UN as a imperial tool to Macedonia. The fact they invaded non-disputed areas show their warmongering.

We issue our own UN counter plan that will be enforced near the half year (OOC: when the lock is imposed). We issue that:

1) The "UN" forces of Macedonia and Arabia leave southern France and cease their war against the SUDS. They must hand back SUDS land back to the SUDS.

2) Scandinavia stops its invastion of Germany and hads back German land.

3) The UN must reconise the war against the Nazis as a regional issue then one the UN has to place its nose in.

Naturally we of the S.U.D.S vote yes.

Venice declares yes, though it is admitted there is little it can actually do in light of a lack of a organized UN.
OOC: I do agree SonicTH, organic UN is not a good idea. We dont start with a real reason to make one. Heck, in ChristoIOT, we failed to work together when we have a very real common enemy, who we can't go to peace with. Now, they have massive empire and force, and we are still bickering amongst ourselves. Only advantage is that the lesser noc states are getting demolished. Unfortantely, we don't have the capicity or time to form a mega empire to fight with
 
My plan from now on is to just create a basic framework, since this seems fairly good evidence for a framework being next to impossible to lay down. After that I'll let the players do what they wish with it. :p

Anyway I'll stop posting here and let you folks focus on this game. :p

Europe is a mess. We all know it, we've all seen it. This conflict started out small, but it has quickly evolved into a complicated, bloody mess that has wasted thousands upon thousands of lives. Okay, I admit that I haven't been entirely innocent in the matter, selling arms to S.U.D.S and her allies. We're a corporation, that's what we do. And we don't like Nazis at all.

But this has to stop. We have bigger problems to deal with. XONES is looming over us, laughing with erotic glee as he watches us kill each other. To stop this mainac, humanity and other sentients have to act as one. We have to unite to stop this creature from controlling our lives. This war has escalated, we cannot spare this many nations in the fight against our oppressor.

We are especially dissapointed in Macedonia and Arabia, ranodmly coming into a war to enforce a "UN mandate" that half the world didn't even vote on. Hell, our UN isn't even functioning at the moment, we don't need this crap.

So I'm onlying saying this once. All sides will agree to an IMMEDIATE ceasefire and you will start discussing peace. Nations that don't agree to the ceasefire will start seeing their factories bombed, their cities filled with paratroopers and R.U.A.C air amardas flying though their skies.

Come on guys. We're world leaders, not three year olds.

XONES entertains the notion of being possibly overthrown as part of the standard bread and circi. :p

Considering it's a group of players in a fictional world following a few mechanics, I don't think it's unnatural to consider it a game. Of course, what direction one takes a game is another thing. There's a reason powergaming is frowned upon.
 
Tibet proposes that we ditch this failed project of a UN and simply act on the current modus vivendi of nation-to-nation diplomacy. This can be achieved as it currently is via a "concert of nations" principle as we have currently, where the nations meet regularly to discuss the issues of our day.

OOC: Ergo the idea of a UN is ditched, we keep this thread as one for diplomatic discussion. Basically pre-20th century style international relations seems like the only feasible option as it stands.

OCC: I'm doing this now to breath a little life back into the game, because why not?

IC: R.U.A.C would like to annouce a new inititive, which is backed by the GED, to replace the UN building that is crumbling around us. It shall be called the Terran Council and here is the Constitutuion:

Consitution of the Terran Council

Article I: Functions and Purpose

The Terran Council is an international body based on the traditions of the international peace and cooperation that were popularized by similar previous international bodies such as the original League of Nations, United Nations and the now defunct Union of Nations.

It is obvious to all involved that the current Union of Nations has beome a useless joke. However, the need for a similar body is clearly apparent to stop blatant agression and horrendous war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The purpose of the Terran Council is to promote international peace and cooperation, to protect the citizens of Earth from being abused and to work together to foil XONES's nefarious plans.

Article II: Membership

Membership is voluntary and any nation can withdraw or join at any time. However, for the purpose of voting and legislation, membership is updated at the end of every six months (OCC: Turn).

Nations may also be removed from the Terran Council and barred from joining. For more details on this process, view Sub-Article IVb.

XONES or any nation controlled or swearing alleigence to XONES will be immediately removed from the Terran Council and be barred from rejoining and will not actually be consdiered nations in the eyes of the Terran Council.

Article III: Expectations of Members

Members are expected to:

1 - Follow this consitution.
2 - Vote on every proposal proposed in the Terran Council's Forum (details Article IV)
3 - Not to commit gross violations of human rights, including but not limited to commting war crimes and genocide.
4 - Not to participate in wars not legally ratified by the Terran Council (see Sub-Article IIIb) unless you are defending or aiding alllies against agression.
5 - Not to cooperate with XONES in any way, shape or form.

Failure to follow these laws is considered legitimate reasons to remove the nation(s) in question from the Terran Council.

Article IV: Proposals

All proposals will be proposed in the Terran Council's Forum (OCC: Social Group maintained by the GM). Allowed proposals and proper formatting of proposals will be covered in Sub-Articles IVa-c. All proposals will have passed will be ratified Six Months after they are proposed (OCC: One Turn After).

Sub-Article IIIa: Proposals NOT Involving Nations' Sovriengty and Commitment to the Terran Council.

Any member can propose one of these proposals and they may entail anything that does not involve nations' sovriengty and commitment to the Terran Council. Members may vote Yes, No or Abstain on these Proposals. All that is needed for these kinds of proposals to pass is an outnumbering of Yes votes to No votes. The proposal will explicitly state that this proposal does not invlove Nations' Sovriengty, why this proposal is needed and what the proposal will entail.

Sub-Article IIIb: Proposals Involving Nations' Sovriengty and Commitment to the Terran Council:

Any member can propose one of these kinds of proposals, however, there are limits to what they can do. Those limits will be covered later in this Sub-Article. All nations may vote Yes or No to these kinds of proposals. Complete agreement of all nations in the Terran Council, other than the proposer and the nations(s) effected, are required to pass one of these proposals. A single inactive not voting or a single "No" vote will stop this legislation being passed.

These are the ONLY kinds of proposals that are allowed of this type:

Proposals to Remove a Nation from the Terran Council: Requires proof of violation of the Terran Council's Constitution.

Proposals to Leaglly Endorse War against a Certain Nation: Requires proof of violation of Human Rights or War Crimes. Any nations that war is legally endorsed is automatically kicked out of the Terran Council.

Article IVb: Amendments to the Constitution

Any member can propose one of these kinds of proposals. All nations may vote Yes or No to these kinds of proposals. Complete agreement of all nations in the Terran Council are required to pass one of these proposals. A single inactive not voting or a single "No" vote will stop this legislation being passed.

If you are interested to join this new body, say so in this thread. If you think that the consitution needs to be edited before you will join, say so in the thread. If you don't want to join then just say nothing.
