If a PBEM or pitboss game starts up I'd be willing to join; although I may not be able to if you guys choose to play pitboss and I have difficulty contacting the host while behind the university firewall...I think there was talk of a 2v2v2(v2) earlier...
I'll do it only if it's PBEM. (PTBS confuses me. A lot.)

Well seems like we have 6 for a PBEM, but maybe less for a PTBS (though with more enthusiasm). We could do a 2v2v2? Does anyone want to start a thread and get it going, or is everyone waiting for someone else to do so?

I love PBEMs but it looked like the game is full. At least this way I have some input (ie no copper, iron or horses

Well, the more people who want to play, the more likely we are to be able to get someone who can host a pitboss game. Also, PBEMS with more than 4 people are too slow; so if we have 6 people it may be better off forming two 4 player PBEMs.
Personally, I'd love to play a pitboss game, although I would have to use Hamachi to connect to it, so either the host would have to use that as well (quite a few people seem to though) or I wouldn't take part; I don't mind not playing though if a pitboss game could be set up, so long as people post decent spoilers for me to read

Well I have no experience with pitboss and would be up for giving it a try, but wouldn't be able to host ... doesn't seem like any of the interested parties so far has offered either.
My limited experience of PBEM is that who matters as much if not more than how many people are involved. I have two in progress and while one is going at ~5t per week, the other is crawling at ~2...
edit: I'd take a "Ruff" map, but would probably rather play with / against you!

We could always ask Sullla to make us a map/some maps...
As to speed of a PBEM/pitboss game; the aim IMO is 1 turn/day, but being able to get together for a few speed sessions in the early game can be very useful. If you have too many people, or as you said some people who are a bit slow, then you miss this and the game becomes quite boring.

my first PBEM had a long break when Dazz was involved in an auto accident. I used the time to map out in detail the next 12 turns and won by space. Launched 3 parts on x-2, 11 parts on x-1 and the remainder (after the whole world declared on me) on turn x (vanilla, luckily).
