If you want to check out some poorly subscribed to threads check out the ones I have started on Rugby League ( or like 99% of people on these forums , don't ) .
I wish people were one tenth as interested in my favouritesport as they are checking out the TPAT.
Odd, no recollection of posting this (must be sicker than I thought). But Im right I remember doing the math
Ive been on a Long After Dark kick. It has a similar feel to Torpedoes but its not quite the same and especially in the background vocals you can hear the ... Its not the right word but "influence" is pretty close... of Howie, especialyl on the background vocals of "Finding Out." Wow thats a real good song.... the Heartbreakers are pretty amazing on it. I dont think theyve ever done it live though, need to check with a friend tho'.
And really, the album... well the title is "Long After Dark", right? Well, to me, Hard Promises was sort of the "dark," it was so damn moody. And with LaD, they're sort of past that, so it has a brighter feel than Promises. Its a bit more optimistic, too. Even with songs like "Straight Into Darkness" which is, I think, the moodiest song on the album (Benmont expressed a liking for songs like this where Petty "goes haywire"), Petty basically isnt... dammit, I lost the word. But you have lyrics like this:
"I don't believe the good times are over/I don't believe the thrill is all gone"
And theres also a very beautiful ballad at the end of the album called "A Wasted Life." A casual fan, I dont think, would think a lot of it. But personally the song means a lot to it... it saved my life.
Aimee--I've probably listened to Damn the Torpedos likely a million times since I was your age. There's a woman who says "it's just the normal noises in here" during "Even the Losers".
Ive actually looked everywhere for that... it seems to be a mystery. Maybe its on the videotapes for the Torpedoes recording sessions (I know that some exist) but obviously I dont have those
