Why do Americans make American versions of foreign (usually British) shows and films?

Don't need to pay syndication fees to whatever foreign company holds the syndication rights.

Once the show ends the American channel gets to rake in that sweet, sweet syndication money (where most of the cost recouping comes from for a television series).

Isn't that 'mericun?
It is. In the sense that the original books are written by a 'mericun, and the show is funded and produced by 'mericuns. But the actors are, in the main, British.

Fo some reason.

Possibly because Middle Earth wherever-it's-set is a very vague facsimile of Britain. Or maybe because some medievalesque setting wouldn't come across as very convincing with 'mericun accents?

I think they are used to aid searches.
Also for teh lulz

George Martin did say that he based Game of Thrones off English history, the War of the Roses specifically I think.

Am I a snob by not drinking American beer? I have 3 beers I'll drink based on availability. One is English, the other Mexican, and the third is a European beer. Sometimes I think people see me drinking fancy beers they think I'm a snob. But I just can't drink Budweiser.

If you think that "Budweiser" is synonymous with "American beer", you're not a snob, you're just stupid poorly informed.

Eughh beer snobs.

Act yer age, yer middle aged bores

You can get beer of pretty much any type or quality made in the US if you care to look.

Yeah, the Lancaster/York - Lannister/Stark parallel makes that pretty apparent. I've also read that the Battle of the Blackwater is meant to reference one of the sieges of Constantinople (again not very surprising with all the Greek fire), not sure if that actually checks out though.

You like what you like. It's nobody else's business.

THE TOP 10 (SELLING) BEERS IN AMERICA 2012
1.Bud Light: 19.2% market share
2.Budweiser: 12%
3.Miller Light: 8.6%
4.Coors Light: 7.8%
5.Natural Light: 4.2%
6.Corona: 4%
7.Busch: 2.8%
8.Busch Light: 2.8%
9.Heineken: 2.4%
10.Miller High Life: 2.3%

So collectively, Budweiser has over 30% of the market.

Canada? Budweiser then Coors Light.

No, but the fact that it is brewed in America, and not under license from some foreign swill manufacturer, does.

Just because most Americans drink piss, doesn't make it an American beer.

How much of that marketshare is due to its low price and easy drinkability (i.e. terrible quality), making it a prime target for underage college students?
