The move has been denounced by Socialist President Duartes of Argentina, calling it a resumption of Brazilian imperial desires. The Argentines have mobilized the military to the Brazilian border for defensive measures.

CIVIL WAR CONTINUES IN LITHUANIA. Vilinus, Lithuania. Heavy fighting is ongoing in Lithuania following last years onset of civil war. The fascists have won several victories, though the republican forces have managed to hold their own thanks to the acquisition of Afro-Asian designed automatic rifles. Civilian casualties have been growing, and refugees have fled overseas into Scandinavia, threatening the nations infrastructure. Latvian authorities have warned both Lithuanian factions against further incursions into Latvia and threatens intervention should the issue not resolve.

ITALY BLOCKADES CRETE. Heraklion, Crete. Italian naval forces have enacted a blockade in order to enforce United Nations Resolution 3-53, which called for sanctions against nations supplying the Friends of Greece. Crete has protested the Italian move, and economic sanctions have crippled its economy, causing almost 40% unemployment on the island. Sanctions have also prevented vital shipments of food from the United States and other American nations, threatening the island with shortages and possibly starvation.
WAR IN IBERIA. Barcelona, Catalonia. Following a small nighttime artillery barrage, French military officials launched an invasion of Catalonia. This attack was considered the final straw for the French government which unanimously voted to declare war on Castile and Catalonia. Over a quarter of a million French soldiers have invaded Iberia, pushing bloodily through the Pyrenees Mountains. However, an influx of recruits into the Catalonian army has prevented the fall of Barcelona to French forces, and heavy urban conflict has emerged in the outskirts of the city. Further French mechanized forces broke through elements of the Catalonian defenses in a drive into Castile. Madrid has been threatened by French forces in their drive on the capital of Burgos. Heavy casualties have been reported on both sides, as the war drags on. Euskadi has protested the French invasion, threatening military action should France not withdraw and wait for an United Nations ruling on the 1955 bombings in France.

Armored and infantry forces struck deep into Islamic territory to ease tensions. However, a rise in bombings and attacks has caused more violence. Military forces have refused to fire upon Christian agitators, and the Somalis have risen in open revolt. Several Abyssinian military divisions have deserted or been destroyed by the rebels. To secure the stability of the region, the attack was launched to prevent further refugee flights and to protect the people of Madagascar. The South Africans have pledged to rebuild Madagascar and to restore the position of the South African people.
WAR IN WEST AFRICA. New Aztlan, Mexican Free State. Mexican forces have launched a full scale invasion of the neighboring nation of Sokoto to free the Mexican proletariat under the unjust rule of African kings. The so-called Mexican proletariat have risen up across Sokoto, hampering military movement and activity. Despite these partisan efforts, the Sokotan military has fought the Mexicans to a bare stalemate. Heavy fighting continues across the region.

LIBYAN CRISIS. Tripoli, Italian Empire. Italian SAM operators near Tripoli shot down an unarmed high-altitude spy plane when it flew too close to a military installation. After an act allowing the arrival of Islamic refugees from the Consolidated States of Afrika, he was unseated by the growing conservative backing in Vietnam. The regime has promised to end the threat of Islamic extremism within the Afro-Asian Alliance and to help secure the defense of Vietnam.
