 I know a lot of these people as well. But ordering a meal like that cannot really be considered an example of perfect politeness and courteousness - EVEN in Germany ;). I tried that line as well just for fun once (in G) and the answer I got was "Schön, aber nicht von mir Kumpel!" It´s more the people that like to appear on the DSDS or Nanny shows that do that if you know what I mean.
 I guess you're right  I just assumed that it was acceptable in Germany since I've heard it a few times from germans. A guy at work (a german) likes to make fun of these stereotypes be shouting stuff like 'Mach mal platz da, ich bin Deutscher' at me when we're standing in line ;)

I guess it´s cultural misunderstanding as well and the feeling that you´re on vacation and want to relieve stress and act like an a****** because nobody over there knows you and you will never meet them again. Just "lass die Sau raus".
yeah, many guys behave on a vacation like they would never dare behaving at home....

Well, to be honest/more precise, there ARE certain places where it can be done like that. I´m thinking of the more ´jovial´ places like Cologne or Berlin. But even there you should only do it at the Frittenbude/Dönermann, not in a restaurant ;). It´s a bit of a class thingy as well - it certainly IS relatively widespread in the lower classes I admit.

I can't comment on how my fellow Brits behave abroad, as I don't holiday in the same places as most of my countrymen. That said, seeing the behaviour of some people on a Friday night in an average British town, I can't imagine those guys doing our nation many favours when they leave Blighty for sunnier climes.

With regards to other nationalities, and having worked in a coffee shop in a very touristy area, I'd say the American visitors were the worst by miles. They tended to be rude, overbearing and, worst of all, incredibly LOUD, treating everyone else within a fifty metre radius as an audience for their pig-ignorant opinions.

I must make an exception for US servicemen, though. There are loads of these guys around here (esp. Airforce), and they are always very polite and respectful. But, since they live here, I guess they don't really count as tourists.

I find this thread somewhat offensive.

The worst tourists are jackasses - and those can be found in any country.

What country has the highest amount of jackassery? In the form of total numbers or per capita if you like.

I would imagine that most jackasses are too much of a jackass to actually get a decent enough job that would allow them to travel abroad.

For some reason, jackasses in the U.S. and Britain have learned how to overcome this in greater numbers.

I'm curious, are there any reports of "Jackassed, rude, Pickpocketing Polish tourists/poles living in england/ireland" out there? or is it just an offensive stereotype made up by xenophobic jackassed english and irish? (can it even be considered a stereotype? Muslim Terrorists is a stereotype. But i bet not even 0.5% of the Polish people living in the british isles are pickpocketers.

Anyway, what is the international opinion of Polish Tourists?

I think it is both British and Russian tourists .

Anyway, what is the international opinion of Polish Tourists?

I have never even heard of this image. Work ethic would be the main stereotype. As for the negatives I guess having little interest in intergrating. Perhaps being more prone to drunk driving and carrying weapons, because of not realising how much more unaccaptable those actions are here. General stereotype would be of a hard working guy, polite but uninterested in getting to know anyone, who gets really astonishingly drunk at the weekend. And it takes some doing to astonish the Brits with your drinking.

Well it is true we are hard working people in general, but that itself is a stereotype, but you have to admit we are more hardworking then other people. Drunk Driving is a problem, but for roads, it isn't the main problem. The Biggest problem is lack of care for road rules, such as speeding. Polish drivers have little or no care about road rules regardles of where they are. Sad but true. I have not heard of carrying weapons.

As for little interest of intergrating, Polish people are mostly in England for the money because of the crazy zloty exchange rate. For example, a Pole goes to england for 5 - 10 years, work hard for money, wait for the exchange rate from the pound to the zloty to go from 1 pound = 5 zloty to 1 pound = 7 zloty and exchange there money and continue working while the pound goes back to being 5 zloty. repeat. You can get rich very easily here in Poland by doing so. Most Poles don't plan on staying in England for ever, but rather for a decade.

That is why poles don't tend to intregate. The Poles who have immigrated to England, not for this but just to immigrate, i'm sure have intregated quite well. So unlike most Stereotype, this one has some meaning/reason to it.

There are Polish tourists ?

Yes, They flock by thousands to Cancun, other places in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Brazil, places in the mediteranean, espiecailly Italy, Greece and Spain. I think tourism to the Black Sea is also very popular.

It depends. You can use that line when you're out with a bunch of people and go to a rather ordinary pub (Kneipe) and you're not the first one to ask. But it's certainly not polite.

Well, here in Spain the tourists with the worst reputation are the British, people think about them as a bunch of noisy drunkdards, the younger ones at least. OTOH the best ones for a long shot are of course the Japanese, which are seen as highly cultured and educated people.
