Are those statues all made from salt?

And are the domes St. Basil's in Moscow?
Yes on both questions.
Those salt sculptures are simply amazing, have a look at the link.
And Vasily is the Russian form of Basil. I just simply couldn't get myself to write Basil's Cathedral, as I get associations to Faulty Towers...:crazyeye:

Niagara Falls on the border between the USA and Canada is quite amazing.

Peace on Earth. :)

Failing that, Angkor Wat.

Maybe if you live to 5 billion the Earth gets it's atmosphere stripped and is incinerated, no life whatsoever, before it get's swallowed up by an expanding dying sun and burnt to a crisp, about then is when you'll see peace on Earth ;)

That's not exactly the kind of peace i had in mind, but living for 5 billions years ain't so bad, plus Earth's showdown sounds like a sight to see! :D

I would love to see:
Carthage and the other ruins in Libya.
Angkor Wat
St Basils and Moscow on the whole
Taj Mahal and Red Fort
Mecca during the haj (not being a Muslim I don't think I have much chance of that)
Antarctica via Terra del Fuego
Somme battlefields
Normandy landing site
Gallipoli landing site
Sail around Cape Horn and Cape of Good Hope (then I can put my elbows on the dinner table!)

There's not alot left of Carthage itself, the Romans raised the area to the ground and salted the region so that nothing would ever grow there again, a mark of respect oddly enough:eek:

I must be a bit confused. I recently saw a travel show that was touring a spot in Libya that was of Carthaginian origin. There were spectactular ruins by the sea and some fairly well preserved buildings and temples that made the roman forum and pompeii look weak in comparison. I wonder which city it was?

I was refering to the original city of Carthage, what your talking about is the Roman city, just a little historical joke :)

I would think so, they look it. .
They allow people to see them? I would imagine any moisture would dissolve it.

A huge pay check, a delightfully gorgeous wife/girlfriend who's half my age and a obsecenely large back garden just before I fall asleep never to awake again.

That and:

Taj Mahal
Bits of Canadian wilderness.
Bits of the US.
Angkor Wat
The Great Wall of China
The Pyramids
The Winter Palace
The Sistine Chapel
Stone Henge
Bits of Asia
Bits of Africa

In no particular order.

Oh, it probably won't happen, I'm quite aware of that. I don't have $20 million to hitch a ride from the Russians, and even if I did have $20 million, I have to confess I don't think I'd be so selfish as to blow it on a space trip.

I don't know if I agree. Burt Rutan is working quite hard to bring down the price quite a bit. Heck, $26 million is what SpaceShipOne cost, and it was a prototype.

As well, can you really call it selfish? From what I understand, tourist trips to space are an essential component of the plan to get mankind to space. In order to get off this rock, we (as a species) NEED for some people to be customers in the risky/expensive portion of the endeavour. If the trips get down from $200,000 USD to $10,000, it might seem selfish to spend the money on a trip (fulfilling a life's dream) - but if our species needs to survive, that money needs to be spent. Might as well be you.

We're going to China later this year to see the Great Wall, so I cannot comment on that one. My list of things to see before you die:

For art: Michaelangelo's David. This is the single most beautiful work of art I have ever seen. My wife and I spent 45 minutes just admiring it. It is the closest thing I have ever encountered to divine perfection on Earth. It completely eclipsed the Sistine Chapel.

For nature: The Galapagos Islands. Each island has its own remarkable array of life: birds, marine mammals, tortoises. They have no natural fear of man, so you can get amazingly close to them.

For spirituality: Machu Picchu. This unbelievably powerful place is also breathtakingly beautiful. Don't do the one-day trip; do two days, and if possible, spend the night in the lodge that is on the top of the mountain instead of in the city of Agua Calientes.

We saw the last two last year on a tour from FriendlyPlanet.com. The tour was Peru, including Cuzco and Machu Picchu, and Ecuador, including Lima and a four-day cruise of the Galapagos Islands. It is easily the best trip we have ever been on. I cannot recommend it highly enough, and it is not that expensive compared to many (at least for Americans based on the exchange rates for South America).

Happy exploring to all!

I WANT TO SEE PICS OF THESE THINGS!!!!

Come on! I'm far too lazy to check it out myself, so if you think it's that bloody good we should all go and see it as well at least have the decency to spend 60 seconds googling for an image to link to!! :p
