So..... I was just sitting on the can and the thought struck me. Man I'm glad I have this toilet attached to a public waste disposal system. Which got me thinking that we tale alot for granted in Western Society. Little things we use and do everyday that the majority of the world has no access to.

This thread is somewhat of a though exercise. What do we fortunate souls have that we take for granted, and how would our life be different if we didn't have it.

So to get things kicked off...

Waste Disposal.
Such a simple thing really but without it we'd literally be walking in S..t. We'd be most likely end up disease ridden bags of water and our towns and cites would stink.

Thank you Waste disposal.. You've made life great!

Stability and peace

What about your washing machine? Imagine washing all of your clothes with your hands .....

Actually, I probably wouldn't wash them much at all - making clean underwear and socks much nicer than I realize.

Dont forget public transport, we carless people cant get any where without it.

How about the sanctity of life? That's always a nice one to bring up... :)

It's really pretty great that oxygen is all over the place. It would really suck if we had to go get it the way we have to go get food.

We didn't have one until 7 years ago. :p
(poorness, not backwardsness)

 No washing machine? That mean you use that board and scrub it clean?

How about speech and the basic senses? Being unable to see, speak, or even smell would be rather annoying.

The police. Yes, I know. You must think I am crazy. Rotten scum, they are, most of the time. But face it, the only reason why there isnt widespread chaos everywhere is the thin blue/green/red line called the police. I am certain there would have been a riot at least 3 times.

That's a huge one. I find it rather sad that when people have the ability to talk, smell, feel, taste and hear choose to limit their senses. Even worse is when people who have all of them make fun of those who don't.

did you go to the laundry, or did you do it yourself?

Ourselves. :)

PAST TENSE. It happened long ago. I barely remember it, as I said, I was 8-9.

And no, my parents used some... I don't know how to call them. Other tools. :)

As for me, I think the best answer is "a place to live". Very few people realize how lucky they are to have that. I think I'm one of them. :)
