By the way, McCain attended an ACORN sponsored rally. Please stop it with the silly guilt by association. The registration fraud was committed by a few people working for ACORN, not ACORN as a whole.

Not voter fraud, registration fraud. That happens whenever campaigns (or activist groups) pay people to go out and register people, and the people paying the bills are the victims. They're paying for each registration so they lose money when the registrations are bogus, and by law ACORN has to turn in the registrations they receive as well as "flag" those that are suspicious. This investigation may have been instigated by ACORN itself as it complies with the laws. Voter fraud would be ineligible voters using those bogus registrations at the ballot box. Just one of the hazards of paying people to collect registrations, some of them will make up registrations and take the cash. From what I understand, plenty of reputable people and organizations gave money to the organization for get out the vote campaigns and ACORN got about 10%.

Exactly. And in any case this is hardly the destruction of the fabric of democracy. On the other hand GWB did that more than anybody since McCarthy.

Yes, ACORN flags fraudulent registrations themselves. ACORN has been defrauded by shady people they hired to collect registrations. This doesn't mean Mickey Mouse or Tony Romo is going to show up and vote. All this ACORN B.S. is being brought up, first, to legitimize republlcan Secretaries of State around the country as they attempt to conduct massive voter purges, and second as another distraction from the economy. I also smell massive racism on this ACORN issue, the republicans might as well just say they don't want poor black people voting.

It's being replayed on CNN at this very moment. The Health Care question is a still a little bit away. Turn on CNN and see it for yourself so you can be un-influenced by someone else's position on the issue. :)

I was disapointed they didn't talk about foreign affairs too. I mean we are a nation at war... not just one war, but 2 wars. And tensions seriously mounting among other nations. I think it's rather important, just as much as the economy if not more, that we hear about policies towards this serious issue and the effects that mean the difference between life and death in American lives. Our troops face it every single day. It was our involvement in the middle east that put targets on our backs for terrorists that lead to the World Trade Center bombings in 1993, the USS Cole in 2000, and ultimately 9/11. It can be a life and death issue. It's just as, maybe more, important of an issue as the economy. I think it's important we hear about their strategy ideology. After all, it was a strategy blunder that made Iraq such a catastrophe in the beginning, as well as poor judgement by the President for rushing in. America needs to know about these men's judgment, and their foreign policies.

He will tax your employee benefits as income, something that has not been done. If your employer ends its offering of benefits to you, you get a $5,000 tax credit to try to go out and find insurance for yourself. Of course the replacement insurance will likely cost you more than $5,000.

McCain even lost on the Fox poll. McCain looked angry, he must be mad because his ten year quest for the presidency is ending in failure. McCain was really mad when Obama brought up people saying "Kill Him" at McCain rallies. I love that he tried to defend those people.

well he really sold me when he said we should choose our health care plans, not government. and that he wants us to have money. but i didn't really quite get the specifics of it.

Plus the amount of spending Obama proposed is astronomical, if you know how to read between the lines. For instance that $4000 credit for college students who volunteer. Sounds great, but who pays for that?

Huh? There are only a few million college students every year. I could be wrong, but I believe the exact figure is around 3 million college freshmen. Multiply 3 million by 4 for all four years, and you get 12 million. Multiply by 4 thousand and you have 50 billion dollars. That's... barely a fifteenth of what we spent on the first bailout, and could be accomplished several dozen times over by simply pulling out of Iraq.

The problem is we are borrowing all that money from China. We can't be spending on things we can't afford. We have to pay back our debts.

Issue is was just finished being discussed a moment ago.

McCain is offering a $5,000 refundable tax credit and use it anywhere in the nation to get your health care at any Doctor in the country that you may want. Any doctor, in any state. Use $5,000 to purchase your health care.

Check John McCain's Health Care Plan. (Scroll down to "Making Health Insurance Innovative, Portable and Affordable" to see the numbers).

Obama wants a more universal "big government" type of health care plan, although small business will be exempt from his fine of not getting health care. I missed the exact numbers/figures from his plan, but he wants to make a pool of doctors to choose from and he thinks it will be cheaper if there's a "collective" (if you will... and like Star Trek Voyager) of participants in that sytem.

There were criticisms thrown from both guys about their opponents plans (like Obama saying McCain would tax the bissiness health care system $12,000 and McCain saying Obama's plan is a mandate that will fine those who refuse to buy health care), and I don't remember EXACT details, but that's the gist.

Here is Barrack Obama's Health Care Plan.

Does he tell you that if your employee provides you health care, it will now be counted as taxable income? That's quite a tax increase on working people. McCain is trying to bust up group negotiated premiums. Many will now have to individually negotiate and instead of having professional HR people negotiating, it will be every Joe Six Pack Plumber for himself. The insurance companies are going to make a killing in such a scenario.

I cant believe a family of 4 needs 12 K a year for health care coverage, kids are actually cheap to insure and premiums dont get big until yer nearing old age and Medicare takes over...
Oh... thats right, our premiums not only reflect the cost shifting from people who dont or cant pay but from Medicaid and Medicare. Naturally the free market gets blamed

According to the Census Bureau, total college enrollment in the US is around 17 million, so you were close. Multiply that by $4,000 and you get an annual expenditure of about $70 billion. For comparison, current total Federal spending on education is $71 billion.

Obama clearly won on health care while I think, on net, it was a wash. I wasn't overly pleased with either candidate's performance.
