This is my boomstick!!!!

Ok checked the save and wow we are in a good position. The south east is gone. Make sure to raze the two most SE cities, because they are resourceless. Mehmed is broken, that is for sure. I say Mehmed is the first one to go. We go straight for his capital. With 2000 esp on Roosie we should get a spy in place to steal democracy. We can still draft a few units if we want too. Then after the trade with Bismarck I suggest we switch to free speech and maybe even emancipation but that will take a while to get the spies there.

Bismarck is willing to trade economics and replacable parts for MS and liberalism + 110 gold. Not a bad deal but do we really need MS? It is nice for the military acadamies, true, but other then that? Replacable parts puts him closer to the right military techs. We can also just trade economics + 185 gold for liberalism. This will make Bismarck propable swap into free market which is good for us. We should get a caravel to the romans btw. We can easily trade 2 happy resources with them.

Lets get railroad in and then up to corporation for mining inc (+10 hammers already and growing) and then to assembly line and clear the land.

Roster:

Woop (up)
Roy (on deck)
Cam_H
Creedakota (just played)

So, the Plan of Action:

I see we have two nice stacks. One will advance on Nicomedia and the other on Thessalonica. Once Nico falls, the stack will join with my Northtern Stack at Thessalonica.

Hatty is RedFist and I am nervous about a DoW from her. Although not too much. Hatty is willing to make a trade:

hatty1.png

I don't know about that trade. I think the time to switch civics may also be upon us. I am leaning to PS and FM. We aren't allowed to switch out of Nationalism, right?

I think I will have much time to build anything but military but would probably put FP in Osaka maybe? Anyways, please let me know your thoughts on my plan and I will play by tomorrow.

EDIT: Also, what are these workers doing?

Hatshepsut is 'red fist' because she's already at war with Mehmed.

I personally wouldn't trade away Rifling to Hatshepsut.

As far as I can tell, we have undertaken all of the variant requirements other than (a.) to capture every city on our continent, (b.) once we've done '(a.)' then we must declare war on every nation on the other continent, and (c.) win by Domination. As such, I understand that we can now move out of Nationhood if we want.

In reference to the Forbidden Palace, are we likely to end up in State Property (given that we'll be taking presumably many cities on the other continent where distance maintenance would be high under all other Economy civics)? If 'yes', then I'm not sure that the Forbidden Palace is worth the cost (and opportunity cost). If 'no', then I guess we should decide if we're going to keep the cities that we capture on the other landmass, and if so, should we build the Forbidden Palace over there instead?

We can get MS and liberalism from Bismarck. If Hatty is willing to trade scientific method for steam power that would be nice too.

About state property or mining inc. Free market is totally not interesting anymore when we have to declare war on the other continent. So SP is more appropiate. On the other hand, mining corp will easily bring in 15 hammers per turn when we have everything so we will outproduce everything and all. And the byzantine capital is a brilliant wall street city. It has been a while since I used SP to be honest. As Cam said SP is only interesting if we are going to keep a lot of cities on the other land mass.

About forbidden palace. I don't see why we shouldn't build it. State property is still far away and having 30 gpt less or more in maintenance is easily earned back. Osaka is a fairly good city for it. For building on the other continent I am afraid we will be steamrolling over them and vassalling like mad. I say we go for the short term advantage of the FP.

Woop, about the war with the byzantine, make sure to wipe out the 3 SE cities first. Burn 2 of the resourceless ones and keep the big city. Then advance to the core. Good luck.

On State Property ... if we wanted to go there ... we could trade Economics + 185:gold: to Bismark for Liberalism now (or less if we put some :science: into it), and then still get to Communism in 12 turns at around 'break even' on the commerce slider.

With that said, if both of you want to get the Forbidden Palace up and maybe focus on Railroad or Assembly Line or whatever, then that's OK.

'Yes' there are small stacks outside each of Amorium and Scythian.

I'd propose a Levee in Canterbury after the Cannon, while I'd not object to an Observatory in London.

workers are largly out of work until railroad comes in, they are building random pointless roads that may end up leading to oil or uranium!

I would not trade hatty rifling. War against her will already be a challenge technology wise. She will have grenadier, airships, and canon.

Once Mehmed is closer to subdued I suggest we pursue Alternating DOW's to take the rest of the continent. Dow Mail...Take a city...get a tech in peace....DOW Japan...take a city..get a tech in peace...Dow Mali....

Civics...i would stay were we are. FM may be a commerce boost now that we have intercontinental trade but im not sure (we have few harbors and no custom houses). I dont think PS is needed, our war weariness is fine for now.

Looking farther ahead we need to consider the War with the other continent and our end game. I am fairly confident that we could beat them militarily. But I beat it will be a true slog and would take us well into the modern era to do so. All three of those guys have high unit probabilty and are close to tech parity. I recommend we 'game' our rules. We should try to delay wiping out a final city on our continent until we have a stronger tech lead on the backward continent. In particular our non-exsistent Navy would need serious beefing up!

Edit: I would not go for State Property. We don't need it yet on our continent and I would likley setup colonys and vassals on the other continent. Instead go Hammers hammers hammers, Railroad, Assembly line, Mining Inc!

Edit Edit: We should make some sorta trade with Hatty the turn before we DOW her!

Right now railroad is the best thing to get imho. It will get us more production and mining corp after we get coorp. If we have these 2 things in place we can outproduce anybody. I agree on delaying the conquering of the last city and build up a huge strike force to take out the other continent. I even think we will vassal them like mad although we might have to erase the vikings for that. If Mehmed is broken then go full for infra and get our land up. With mining Inc that should be a breeze.

So I have played the set. GG was merged into Hastings.

Captured a TON of cities. Mehmed is just about completely dead.

That's right, 7 cities in 10 turns. Our stacks are in a position to completely eradicate Mehmed next set. There is a spy on its' way to Yokohama. Also, there was an AP vote but I didn't put anything forward:

And we also had a pretty good event:

RailRoad came in shortly after and I set research to SciMeth and down to 0%.

All in all a pretty fun TS. I didn't really do too much of micro because I know the TS is a little bit overdue so apologies for any mistakes on that front. Anyways, attached is the save :)

Constantinople is ours :D Yeahaa. Now lets get corperation and then mining corp set up there. Wall street city here we come. Mehmed in the bag. Nice turnset Woop!!!! Not a bad average with 7 cities in 10 turns. 2 extra happies in with sugar and gems. Please tell me Constantinople has a shrine. If not I would really be disappointed. I would even milk one of our cities for a GP then if possible. The screenshots are full of green wins :D

I will propably have some time tomorrow to play. Will look into the save tonight but we are shaping up!!!!

No shrine, I'm afraid. We didn't lose many units at all. I sacrificed all our cats to take Constantinople though. All in all, I had a pretty good time :D

I bet you did, you little warmonger ;)

All going along nicely. Well done. :)

Agree with the gist of your thoughts, Killroyan. I guess there's still some chance of popping a Prophet out of Torquay if we switch to a Priest and build a Confucian Temple for a second Priest. Newcastle also presents as an interesting option with three Priest slots already available with lots of opportunity to build Temples and Cathedrals to open more. I'm mindful that Kyoto has 8:gp:/turn coming from WoWs, so if we're aiming for a Prophet out of Torquay or Newcastle, we should be mindful of managing Kyoto's free specialist.

I'm glad we've got a Spy heading to Yokohama, but I'd not object to building a couple more quickly to improve or chances of success - then again, we might get lucky with our first shot(?).

I'm still liking Cree's strategy of 'milking' technologies, but I'm also thinking that Mehmed's Military Science isn't worth fluffing around about with given the 'motherland' issues we'd endure in the meantime. As woopdeedoo proposes; "eradicate him".

Mehmed has to go. I hate the " we yearn for our motherland" angries. Mehmed has 4 cities left and we do not really need MS at this point. It is nice to have for some acadamies but that is all.

I propose a switch to corperation. We can trade steam power to Hatse for liberalism/SM/150 gold/WM. Not a bad deal. Puts us straight on track towards mining corp. We could even trade steampower also to Bismarck for MS/200 gold/WM. Is that worth it? Discuss.

My PPP is:
1) Eradicate Mehmed.
2) Move stack to Roosevelt and release Kyoto of cultural Pressure by attacking.
3) Sue for peace and some tech from Roosevelt
4) After eradicating Mehmed move leftover army from Gao to Hatse and declare war and attack. Kumbai Saleh is a big price with 2 religions there. Lets hope Hatse has been doing better in the GP department.
5) Sue for peace and some tech from Hatse.
6) Get spy in place to steal democracy asap.
7) Try to get a GP somewhere. Torquay is a good call.
8) I would love to switch to Rep/FS/caste/FM/Paci (when corp is in) but it takes 3 turns to revolt.

In the meanwhile I want to get infra going everywhere in the backlands. We need more infra everywhere. I still vote for the FP in Kyoto asap.

I thought that we were getting Corporation via theft(?).

'Yes' from me re. the vile Mehmed (Cam spits in bronze urn).

I want to take on Hatshepsut, as she's got all the WoWs, but it's awful awful awful tempting to hit Roosevelt with those Longbows defending his cities.

I think that we have to aim for a Prophet out of both Torquay and Newcastle, and if we get one out of Torquay, then 'great'. As I say, watch Kyoto's :gp: generation.

If we're not going for State Property, and instead looking at Mining Inc. (and assume Sid's Sushi or Cereal Mills) then 'yep' ... feel free to get up The Forbidden Palace somewhere in some far flung part of the empire. I'm 'tickety-boo' with the suggestion of colonies/vassals to deal with the outrageous maintenance on the other continent.

I'm curious who's overseeing Rome and keeping Bismark in a state of equilibrium.

Ok, change of plans then if we are going to get SP.

Since the statue still hasn't been build as far as I know we could do the following thing. Use the GE for the SoL. Concentrate on communism asap and with a little luck we get the free spy. Use the spy for either a GA or an infiltration mission. Get the spy buildings up everywhere and steal everything from Roosie/Hatse.

What about the possible tech deals?
