Shooting off from the organ donation question, would you ever consider donating your whole cadaver to medical science or instructing your heirs to do the same?

Medical science is always in need of additional cadavers for research and study. One big use of cadavers is to instruct medical students in anatomy. Medical schools and students are very respectful of donated cadavers and most will have ceremonies at the end of a term to honor those who donated their bodies and their families. Of course, if you donated your cadaver you wouldn’t be able to put in the ground right away or even have an open casket funeral or viewing hours.

What do you think?

I'd prefer to not have a funeral in the first place, though I recognize it's not for me, it's for my loved ones. At any rate, I'm perfectly fine with a service without my corpse. Donate away.

Sure, go ahead. I won't be needing it at that point anyway.

So long as they save the organs to use for medical thingies.

I've seen a show about a forensics place that people donate their cadavers to . Basically , your body gets dumped in this big yard where they leave it to rot in various environments so that forensic scientists can study the mechanics of decomposition .

Totally emo

Sure. I guess scientists and doctors would like to examine a body that has been decayed by disease.

I do not plan on having a funeral OR service anyways.

No. I want to rest in peace, not let some stupid science geeks rip apart my body and play with it like a set of Legos.

Funeral isn't for you. It's to give closure to your family and friends and community.

What about medical students, so that they might better understand disease and help keep patients alive?

Yeaaah, that's of no consequence to me. I have no family worth thinking about, only one friend who hates funerals, no community to speak of.

My grandmother recently mentioned it, because she's thinking about it. Mainly due to the costs and work which a grave involves in germany.
Personally...if organ donations are still in...why not? It's for a higher good, and I don't think that an official place for mourning is really needed.

I don't like the idea of 18 year old medicine students chopping up my torso. Just seems undignified.

Would you really care though? What with being dead and all? I'm pretty sure you wouldn't even realise it was happening.

My plan is to be cremated, then to have my ashes spread over fertilizer for a garden growing Psychedelic drugs. After that, the psychadelics will be distributed among my friends, and they can talk to me while they are tripping hard.

Good plan. Though that can be done after the med students finish cutting you up.

My grandmother was a cadaver donor. I personally would prefer to be an organ donor, though donation to science is quite important as well.

Agreed.

I'm sure THEY would care when I come back to haunt them in their sleep for ripping me apart the wrong way.
