CC: Byzantine Empire
The former Second Leonese Empire, now known for all time as the Empire of Christian Spain, the union of the Christian kingdoms of Spain under a single and benevolent crown, hereby requests that the Sovereign of Tuscany desist from his inflammatory statements towards the Byzantine Empire. The Empire, a continuation of the formerly stated Second Leonese Empire, holds to any and all agreements approved by the former incarnation of the Majesty of Christian Spain, the incarnation of which being the Leonese Empire. The Duchy of Naples, having been a lawful possession of the King of Aragon, and consequently the King of Leon, Castille, Navarre, and Emperor of Spain, was sold without reservation to the Byzantine Empire. As such, any and all rebellions within said Empire and the action required therein are the sole concern, responsibility, and business of the Byzantine Empire.
Diplomacy is urged.

While the Imperial Crown of Christian Spain recognizes the grief felt by the Father in Rome, we must all recognize the actions of the Byzantines were in response to a threat posed by a rebellious populace. The Fathers of the Church in Naples failed to submit to their rightful overlords, and while we would the Byzantines had shown leniency, action was required to keep the situation from getting out of hand.
War is not conducive to spreading the word of the Christ Jesus, unless war provides stability. Further inflammation of this sad event will do little aside from destabilizing the peace we have achieved.
