TNESI: The Glorious Mysteries

OOC: It would appear my spies' reports were correct about that third war. I like the dark allusions throughout the update leading up to the Spotlight, that was brilliant. :D Also, that was my first orderset that was longer than one PM, so I was rather proud of myself :p

In response to the closing of the Straits of Gibraltar, shutting down trade for the Mediterranean nations, as well as its blatant aggressive tendencies, regardless of diplomatic status, as evidenced by their brutal repression and annexation of their own ally and vassal, their attack on Egypt, and the creation of a military force with the sole purpose of conducting naval landings, quite obviously a threat to our Caribbean holdings, the Empire of Christian Spain, fearing for the safety of her people and the freedom of Occupied Christendom, hereby declares the Reconquista restarted, announces her intention to liberate the Christians of Muslim Spain, and joins her Christian brethren in Byzantium in their Holy Crusade against the Infidel. We shall unify Spain, once and for all, free those Christians that suffer under the Muslim yoke, bring the peoples of Aragon, Castile, Leon, and Andalusia together, forever to cast aside those titles and instead take up one name for one people – Spaniard.

- His Imperial Majesty, the Leonid Emperor Ferdinand III, King of Leon and Aragon, Lord of Greater Mexico, Master of the Caribbean Isles, Champion of the Catholic Faith, High Arbiter of the Spanish Church, Pilgrim on the Path of Righteousness, Emperor of All Spain

OOC: If its a crusade, why list grievances? Just say that you want to clean the world from the wretches, that should more than enough. ;)

Why, to show how our hand was quite clearly forced, of course. Leon has done nothing wrong, but the vile aggressions of the Infidels to the south has left with little option. Everyone likes to hear about how awful the bad guys are, and foreign powers like to know its not naked aggression. Its fully clothed in the most regal fashion aggression :D

OOC: I meant that you could simply say that they're infidels, and occupy native Hispannic soil. Time to finish what Pelayo had started. The rest is a bit redundant, IMHO. ;)

And diplomatic babbling is never redundant ;) However, point taken.

Amazing update, can't believe i am holding out so long against all odds, need to create a new character, the last one was based off my science teacher:) MR. Alwan

To: Zayanid and Hafsid Sulatanates
From: Egypt

Andulusia lies in ruin, soon your lands will be liberated. Will you sign a mpp with Egypt to guarantee contued good relations

To: Spain
From: Egypt

We do not want war with your great nation. Catholics have not lived in our lands for thousands of years. Please keep peace with us. We can talk.

To: Byzantine
From: Egypt

You can keep them coming or we can sign some peace, your choice.

To: Leon, Usurpers of Iberia
From: Andalusia

We should have seen this coming, but we were blinded by heresy and gold. You planned with us how to betray your allies of Aquitaine and the Pope himself, you had no respect for religion. We should have seen you were untrustworthy even to us, whom you signed alliance with.

It seems treaties matter little to you, that you have no honor. You are no better than the Druze, whom you fund in their killing of Christians. I speak the truth to the betrayers. We shall have our lands back, and we shall let the world know of your treachery.

Your power shall be no more, your kingdom come to and end, my will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven, Allah gave you this day to prove a point, but soon you shall not be able to provide even daily bread to your people. We will never forgive you your trespasses, for we show only vengeance to those whom trespass against us. We were led into temptation of peace, but we will deliver your people from evil. We are the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, Forever and Ever.

Amen.

OOC: Good update, though i couldn't see it comeing because you didn't point out those signs to me. My military isn't incompetetant, i'm sure someone shoulod hve told me about something

The Tuscan army is at your service to help in your most holy crusade, should you will it.

To Christian Spain

We support your crusade against the muslim terror which must be driven from rightful christian lands. We also urge you to not cut your ties with the Pope which would leave you out of the Catholic League. This alliance will only exist in its current form if you keep your ties with the pope who is the true leader of Christianity and Catholicism.

We pity you. Your attempts to drive division between the allies of Spain are laughable. Not only have never once discussed betrayal of our Aquitainian allies, but the idea that we would fund hellbound infidels such as the Druze disgusts us. Your blasphemy of the Words of the Lord only serve to prove our point. You have proven incompetent in every aspect of Empire - your military was busy trying to grab the scraps from the Byzantine table in Egypt, your sinfully decadent strong men failed to bring security to those they lorded over, and you yourself have been reduced to... what? Attempts at biting remarks? Blaspheming the Holy God who's will it is that we speed up the pathetic Devil-worshipping rulers of your former empire on their journey to Hell?

Your invasion of our homelands was God's reprieve to you heathens. He has merely deigned to return to us what was ours, for it is as it is said, "The Good Lord giveth, and the Good Lord taketh away." He has restored to us what is rightfully ours.

Now, we wonder, how exactly are you planning on expelling us from our homeland? Perhaps you will summon up some daemon, some black magick from Satan? You certainly won't be fighting us off, seeing as you are in sore need of a military. However, we will leave you to your delusions. Until, that is, our Inquisitors slowly remove your blaspheming tongue. God is merciful, however, and so are we. Even without a tongue, you can still write down your repentance, your acceptance of the Christ as your Lord and Saviour, and ask for forgiveness.

There may yet be some hope for your wretched soul.

As a result of the slanderous attacks from a dying foe who, like a murderer caught in a trial, says whatever he can to avoid his punishment or hurt his accuser, some certain libelous charges were levelled against us. Let it be known that these are patently false and entirely invented in the Moors last ditch attempt at spite before they are brought before the Cleansing Flame.

To completely dispel these rumours, we announce the following:

As concerns the Heathens in Egypt

We have never once given aid to the Heathens in Egypt, nor have we ever considered it. Not only is there no good reason for blocking the path of our cousins in Byzantium, but we have taken active steps towards closer relations with the Byzantines, steps we would not undermine pointlessly.

We challenge the Moors to present a single plausible reason for Spanish interference in Egypt. Perhaps they will say we want to stifle a rival empire? But of course, we must be concerned with the rising power of the Byzantines, as our spheres of influence and power are so incredibly close. Isn't it obvious to the world that Spain's REAL desire is to conquer Greece and take back the Holy Land? Alas, how could you all be so blind!

As concerns our allies in Aquitaine

Expanding into a land that does not want our rule at the expense of a personal friend of the Emperor's who so valiantly aided us in the reunification of Spain is a dire insult. However, to display our solidarity with the people of Aquitaine, we hereby call on the Norse Empire to accept Aquitaine's demands.

As concerns His Holiness in Rome

The Papal Father in Rome is, and always has been, looked to for guidance and counsel on the highest matters concerning the Catholic Faith. We, again, see no plausible reason for betraying the Father, as taking his lands would do nothing but create a large scale war. We, unlike the Heathens to the south, do not go against the Will of God.

Friends, as you well know, we have no ill-will towards your people and have done our best to better relations between our people. Any further discussions or questions you may have we will be happy to answer. We would never betray fellow Christians, particularly not to infidels.

We will await the Byzantine response before any further diplomatic interaction.

We thank you for all your aide, both past and future. With God's Help, the Moors stand no chance.

We thank you for your vote of confidence and assure you we are as loyal as ever to the Catholic League.

FROM: Empire of Spain

We call on you to accept Aquitaine's calls for peace.

OOC: To be honest, I think it all went pretty much realistically. I wouldn't complain much, seeing as your economy seems to not be damaged at by the fact that I took pretty much all your important overseas holdings, most of your "homelands" and your African possessions are in revolt. Better yet, my troops were incompetent enough to let you not only fortify, but reinforce as well. I wasn't gonna say anything, because I'm quite happy with it all, but I don't think anything should be changed.

Then again, of course *I* don't :p

OOC: Oh, i'm not mad at all. It'll be a good fight. You'll probably win though. And i won't be an Ass and post all those PM's about Aquitaine and Papal States, though i did make up the Druze thing.

To: Byzantium
From: Andalusia

ALLIANCE, ACTIVATE! *extends power ring*

OOC: Though you will be an ass and say something about them ;) Actually, I sincerely do not remember anything about Aquitaine. The anti-Pope comment was in reference to a distancing from the Pope (and was also an OOC side comment ;)), not severing ties completely. If I did say anything about Aquitaine, it was probably to lure you into a false sense of security, as I, A) cannot find anything about it in my outbox or my saved diplo, and B) can think of no reason why I would want to betray Aquitaine when I had been planning on invading you from turn one. Actually, I was almost going to invade you on turn one itself, but decided at the last minute that invading Aragon and buying Jamaica from you would probably work out better.

Return? I fail to understand you here. These cities have been a part of my kingdom since the time of Marc I. They joined willingly in the rebellion that saw the founding of this kingdom, and they form an integral part of our economy. You must see why we cannot possibly accede to this request.

You are a kingdom being torn between French and German influences. The two cannot live peacefully forever and you will have to choose one way or another. We drop our claims but when the revolts come in your lands we will intervene.

We will not support the Andalusian caliphate in its wars against the Spanish Empire.

We declare our support for the Leonese Empire. We further extend a declaration of war towards the Hafsid Sultanate, and we shall sign no peace with Egypt until the Druze have surrendered all of Egypt to the Byzantine Empire.

Our brothers to the south, we share a common neighbor (and potential enemy) in the Khanate- ruled by a leader want to do anything to either of us with his massive army as he has done in the past. Given our situation, we extend our mutual protection pact (valid against only the Khanate) that we share with the Byzantines to you as well. We wish your forces luck alongside our Byzantine comrades in Egypt.
