Made few trades:
Priesthood, Monotheism, Horseback Riding, Monarchy, Literature

The ivory connected we have our 1st war elephant :D
Khan still sending his ones to die on our pikes :mischief:

Started harbors for the +50% trade ravenue (+2 gpt/town) + health.
Started library in Karakorum (we can't build Monument) for border expansion (we need the rice for health).

I set capital to growth 2nd scientist can be hired in 2 turns.

There is a decent army in Karakorum, next player can continue the war efforts.

I built a settler in Paris, may I suggest this site for it? We need to fill up this spot, barb horse archers started to appear here + we need the cow + wine.
Or any better idea?

A few more things:
We have a GGeneral in Djenne
Nobody knows Optics, yet. Only Augustus & Elizabeth know Compass
Elizabeth seems to be the tech leader, knows Paper (map treading)! Doesn't want to trade any techs :( Would be useful to improve relations with her, +3 now (we trading with her worst enemies).
Astronomy in 17 turns

I decided we need a Warlords ... thus the General Elephant:

tnt1-AD1523-general.jpg

With colossus and great lighthouse, I don't think we should waste coastal city. As such, I did not settle at where the previous player suggested (which is a good location, just too bad it is 1 tile away from coast). Instead I move the settle north and founded Gao:

tnt1-AD1526-gao.jpg

Diplo-wise met Brennus, he is angry with us right from start, likely due to HC:

tnt1-AD1526-brennus.jpg

We later also meet the 3rd civ on that landmass, Cyrus:

tnt-AD154-cyrus.jpg

I arranged OB with HC and Toku:

tnt1-AD1529-ob.jpg

War-wise not much progress, killed more real barbs than Mongolia barbarians. However, I believe that will change in the next player's turnset:

tnt-AD1550-enemy.jpg

You can try to attack them using the road south to avoid the cross river penalty, but I would rather let them attack.

We have our own attacking forces led by General Elephant at Beshbalik:

tnt1-AD1550-beshbalik.jpg

The screenie didn't show, but it is defended by 3 longbows and a melee. We need trebs.

Ok I finished my turn set and the summary is we now have Beshbalik and Old Sarai. I hope we wanted to keep both. We now know Guilds and Civil Service and are three turns from learning Gunpowder. I have sent the Great Merchant off to Japan for a trade mission. I assumed that this would be what we would want for the extra gold.

Details:

Elizabeth came calling.

civ4screenshot0002pd9.jpg

I asked why, you already gave us your world map before, we do not need to show you ours. So I sent her packing.

Next Guilds came in.

civ4screenshot0003ga8.jpg

Seeing how we had a whack of troops outside of Beshbalik I continued the bombardment and moved the remaining Trebuchet into attack range. It cost us most of the Trebuchets :aargh: we had to capture the city (sorry Tratan for destroying your nicely build up stack).

civ4screenshot0004jy6.jpg

Next we got a Great Merchant.

civ4screenshot0005ek3.jpg

Unfortunately, I was not sure how we wanted to use him :undecide:, so I waited until the Galleon was finished and sent him to Japan. They are still on their way there so could be turned around if he should have been merged or burned for the Banking tech.

I then sent the troops up north to disconnect the Ivory from Genghis's control. End result no more Jumbos from Genghis. Also news came in that the :viking: are now dead , two down ;).

civ4screenshot0006oi3.jpg

I did some trading.

Anyways, at the end of my turn set, this is how our continent looked:

The Great Merchant's location.

civ4screenshot0017by4.jpg

I sent out the troops from Karakorum to kill a Barbarian Archer on the rice, please move back. In the mean time I whipped a Long Bow to defend the city from the oncoming Axeman from Genghis.

civ4screenshot0018uw4.jpg

I have also pillaged the roads around Genghis' Iron in the hopes that this will mean no more metals for him.

civ4screenshot0019eo8.jpg

The other Iron in Genghis territory is not hooked up yet.

civ4screenshot0021mm6.jpg

I last point I started the Great Library, I hope we can get with some whipping. But I forgot :hammer2:to hook up the Marble so next player will need do this ASAP.

civ4screenshot0022fb5.jpg

I think we can rid the world of Genghis at our leisure now, So I think after Gunpowder comes in we should get the techs needed for the large empire and conquer our continent.

Do we want to go back to the original roster? In this case GreyFox is UP!
Otherwise I can play later today.
I have never built The Great Library after Astronomy
Is it too early to think about our next target?
Egypt is weak ;) but their neighbour Germany seems to be strong enough to have a good figth.

Hmmm ... why did we revolt to Judaism so early? Should have waited a bit ...

We could check in the Top 5 Cities screen to see if anyone had the Temple of Artemis. That is the first choice for GM Trade.

I could play again, but I would wait a bit to see how tatran wants to organize the roster .... I suspect there is no roster (i.e. anyone who have not played in this round can post a got it and play).

I really don't see the point of adopting a state religion where (a) there is only one city with a religion, (b) not having religious civics, and (c) none of our friends is having the same religion. In fact no one is having the same religion.

Thus I revolted, gaining us 3 friends. The picture below contrast the before and after revolt to no-state:

Made some trades with our friends, selling world map can be a very lucrative business:

Almost as good as a trade mission:

With the money, I switched to 100% research and learn us education, chemistry, and starting Philo (heading for Liberalism). I haven't started any university yet, so next player may consider so.

And forces are now moving to Turfan.
