To Athiests, and Agonostics

In my opinion, no one has really given an honest answer. Let me put it this way: if God appeared to you, and you could be certain that it was Him, and He explained to you exactly why Christianity was correct, and exactly why it would be in your benefit to be Christian, and He cleared up any doubts you had, and made it clear that you had misunderstood Him and He was not morally inferior to you, could you come up with a single valid argument for not becoming Christian?

So, what you're saying is, if he convinced me to become a Christian, would I be convinced that I should become a Christian? Logic demands that the only meaningful answer to this would be yes, so that question is rather meaningless.

I doubt the Christian God would take so great pains to clear up such misunderstandings, at least judging by the level of information flowing from him at the moment(Ie: Nil for at least 2000 years).

Oh no, it's not nil for 2000 years, ask any Mormon.

Seriously, though, yes, you would have to then accept Christianity. The question, then, I think, is how much certainty could you subtract from the above scenario before you would feel justified in not accepting Christianity?

This is hypothetical, so you can't say, "well I think that Christianity is contradictory" or whatever.

I'm not trying to evade the question, even if it seems like it. Your hypothetical is missing one component that I think would be necessary for me to convert. It's sort of to do with the bit I've bolded. God would still need to show me that I am morally inferior to him, that my current morals are unacceptable, that I am not capable of deciding my own morals. Until god can show me that, I still do not have a compelling reason to stop using my own morals and start using the morals as given by god.

You can prove to me god exists, you can prove to me that god's preferred morality is that of a particular religion, but until you can prove to me that I am incapable of making moral decisions for myself, you will not get me to abandon my morals and adopt someone else's.

Please come and join my thread: bgast's official I don't have enough faith to be an athiest. This was the precuser of that thread. Most every thing that has been mentioned here will be dealt with there. Perhaps not to your satisfaction, but an attempt will at least be made. I haven't really been checking back on this thread too much because I have been busy with the other one.
