OK, so we already know the roster with which Civ VI will begin.
Which 5 civs that have been in the game in previous editions are you going to miss most (until they are added via DLC, EP, or mod, that is of course)?

Here are my top 5:
1. The Inca - Brazil is good, but it is a modern nation, and we also need a native civ in South America, with the Inca being the most prominent empire from that continent.
2. The Swedes - I really hope that the inclusion of Norway does not mean Sweden will not be in the game. They are a super-important Early Modern Period empire, and you just can never have too many Scandinavian civs)
3. The Ethiopians - With all respect to Kongo (about time they are added to the game), Ethiopia should be the number one Sub-Saharan civ.
4. The Portuguese - Because it is a bit weird to have Brazil in the game without Portugal.
5. The Khmer - South-East Asia has no representatives, and my first choice would be the Khmer.

1- Ottomans
2- Maya
3- Khmer
4- Incas
5- Ethiopia

Honorable mensions: Koreia, Mali, Mongols, Sweden, Persia, Portugal, Netherlands, Babylon, Carthage and Indonesia.

Add Persia, drop Swedes (sorry).

Otherwise looks fine

Yeah, Persia is another must have. This is perhaps the civ I am surprised the most was not included in the vanilla. It is the first time since Civ I that the Persians are not in the game.

Mine would be:

Frigging Persia: Man, what were they thinking by not including them in vainilla?

The Khmer: Gotta get that ultra-tall gameplay. Also, S-E Asia needs more love

Mali: The most influential African civilization that ever existed, along with Ethiopia and Egypt. Also, one's gotta love Mansa Musa. Biggest personality, historical or videogaming one!

Incans: Better than the Aztecs, and more open to interesting gameplay possibilities too (adaptation to rought terrain, mountains and the like)

The Netherlands: With the whole "unstacking" of cities, their terraforming abilities and polders are sorely missed

1- Persia I'm still surprised they are not around, hopefully they'll come back soon on DLC.
2- Inca Brazil before Inca was nuts, but well, seeing as the game puts so much emphasis on terrain, it would be really interesting to see what the Inca could do with it.
3- Maya They were one of my favorites in civ5.
4- Mongolia Proably going to make it back soon on DLC, I want to see them have some sort of nomad/large mobilization playstyle (I like the idea of mobile encampments)
5- Iroquois They were meh on civ5, but I really want to see them get decent mechanics to make them fun to play.

2- Inca Brazil before Inca was nuts, but well, seeing as the game puts so much emphasis on terrain, it would be really interesting to see what the Inca could do with it.

I have a feeling Brazil was included in the vanilla simply because of the Rio Olympics.
Couldn't help noticing they were announced the same week the games began.

1. Persia
2. Inca
3. Iroquois
4. Ottomans
5. Maya

The Dutch, the Mongols, and Siam are three other painful omissions.

I think the developers did a reasonable enough job putting together the Civ list. The only decisions I really didn't like were Brazil over Inca and Scythia over Persia. It would have been nice to find room for the Iroquois too, perhaps the Norse could have waited. But I'm sure all this will be resolved in a year or two.

And before that the argument was because the World Cup. Whichever the reason, Firaxis seized the oportunity to open the market in Brazil. something similar happened with Poland.

I was actually hoping for both Inca and Brazil to make it in (because of the Olympics as you mention), between that and Persia being out of Vanilla, it's a very lets say, interesting starting rooster.

(I guess Mexico will have to host the World Cup or the Olympics again to secure a place in civ)

1 - Any civ from Native North America (no Sioux please)
2 - Korea
3 - Babylon (but Sumer helps make up for it)
4 - Persia
5 - Mayans
6 - Inca

Mixture of personal preference and historical relevance.

1. Sweden (I can't live without Sverige)
2. Persia
3. Korea
4. Indonesia *
5. Carthage

* Indonesia or any South Pacific civ.

The Civs I think most need to be added:

1. The Persians
2. The Mongols
3. The Portuguese
4. The Ottomans
5. The Dutch

1) Persia (especially NOT Achemenid Persia - I really wanna see Sassanids or Safavids)
2) Ottomans
3) Mongolia
4) Inca
5) [South East Asian]

1) Zulus
2) Iroquois
3) Sweden
4) Dutch
5) Ottomans

In no order, as I miss them all equally:
-Inca
-Persia
-Ottoman Empire
-Mali
-Korea

I suspect these will all be in the expansions.
